We all see this and for me it’s kind of a pet peeve if a plane is requesting it, as it suggests they have turned their brain off.
The Tanks marks are helpful, but planes can easily place those themselves, and tanks often don’t need any marks there so obvious from the air, the MG and MA fire are easily spotted.
The infantry marks are often wrong, even if placed correctly, infantry move… and the bombs kill radius is pretty small really, like all HE in game.
It’s far more effective, imo, to simply aim for the tracer fire, or just get low… and know the map.
The point her, is not to just state the obvious, but today I noticed something I never did before.
This guy, who in a Stuka kept asking Every 30 seconds or so (not really but it felt that way) , for the marks, and he often thanked people for placing them…
I often saw no such marks being placed…
The Question is then, do we all see the same marks?
Because I often notice other Planes requesting marks when I can clearly see them, and today he apparently was seeing marks I could not.
Ya, I always thought so, but the seed of doubt has been planted for me now, not that I trust the marks of course as a targeting aid, apart from the tanks.
Imo non tank,fortifications Mark from ground are hard to trust in random battle because of the fast paced gameplay, the battle status shift to fast for a cas player be able to bomb wen is requested, most of the time the enemy is already gone from the marked point

because there are barely capable teammates at all.
I spam request those because people never put them right. I ask when im about 2km out because any furthrr and the marker is already gone.
Any later and the marker is placed after i make my first run, then someone sometimes places it and by the time i’ve turned around…it’s gone.
I never see tanks because the render distance, atleast on Xbox Series S, is terrible. Stuff, including tanks, render in when I’m beyond being able to adjust course. I really need those markers.
When someone marks when I ask for it, i tend to get tank kill after tank kill and am easily first in the team (or even server).
The spam calling for coordinates aren’t just senseless spam. They mean who ever is on the way with ordinance is ready for a marker. And not just one trooper or someone waaaay inside a building but a tank or a spawn point or cluster of troops. If you have nothing to mark then don’t mark and let the pilot decide since they likely got a rough idea where to blind drop lacking good targets.
Wish they’d give (good) rewards for marking vehicles…then atleast people wouldn’t ignore the requests.
Theres a reason modern militaries use JTACs
People don’t like to mark because the idea they can get the kills themselves for their battle task, XP gain, team play even in clans, is sometimes lacking. The tank markers are rewarded with assist XP, but soldiers are not.
I have a general rule, I will mark tanks in a plane not just for me (I’m on Ps5 btw) , if there are more than 2-3 soldiers even if I can kill them all I will mark them just in case! (If I do kill them I’ll remove marks)
The issue is some people put marks but just one and it’s outdated by the time plane rearms, the marking system is good with a good alert team, but it fails well over 50% of the time
Agreed, some people really know how to use them. I stay systematic which allows people to catch on.
Typically 20 seconds or so before drop I ask 3 times fast in a row.
If no one marks, I’ll do the occaissionally 10+ times in a row and more often than not…I suddenly get a good mark.
Imo a marked tank that got destroyed should give atleast 75 or more to the marking person and not the lame 25 point participation trophy. It’s too little for the value of the mark.
I always send out a thank you after a good mark and a sorry in the odd case i still miss despite the mark being great.
I really wish there was a way to make clear what it is thats going on, like “drop in 30 seconds, need vehicle targets. Don’t mark infantry”.
