Names

I suggest to translate the names of the soldiers into their native language.
English\American must be written in English.
German should be written in German.
Italian in Italian.
Russians in Russian.

However, I’m not sure about the average western\eastern player, the Cyrillic alphabet may not be clear to him.
I also do not know who will like to see Japanese\Chinese names in their language in the future.

not sure
Karl, Jurgen, Heinrich, Kurt, Henning… dont sound english
Pavel, Andrey, Mihail, Aleksey, Roman… sound quite russian

Only the English alphabet is used here.
Do you understand that the German and English alphabets are different?
And Russian names must be in Cyrillic.

ah, that makes more sense
sorry for the misunderstanding

If I play for the German side, then I want to see the maximum of the German language.
If for the Soviet, then the maximum of the Russian language.

Names are not so important from the point of view of the gameplay, but for immersiveness it would be good.

Not to shoot the idea down, but do you realize that plenty of current names are heavily twisted or misspelled, because in all likelihood Devs wrote them all down in Cyrillic and fed them to an automated translator?

I hardly see them putting in the effort you’re suggesting.

[Berthold Ferari]=[Bertoldo Ferrari]

“Dzherardo” = Gerardo

Do you think that the translator does not translate well?
They just wrote the names in Russian initially with an error.

I don’t think they even used a translator.

I think the translator couldn’t handle names beyond translating each Cyrillic symbol with the closest equivalent in western characters, without regard for proper spelling because first names’ and surnames’ spelling don’t necessarily coincide with common language.

  1. You forgot les Français but it’s ok.
  2. Pierre Baguette is not a real name. Jean Moustache is.
  3. It’s omelette AU fromage.
