I have given this some thought recently and at first I could not justify from a historical standpoint having it there. But perhaps now I can.
Historically, the only way that the American Sherman could compete against the superior German Armor was in numerical superiority. Because there were so many Sherman’s they could just fix and flank the German Cats. They would lose lots of Sherman’s in the process but they could afford to do so.
So how does this effect a battle in enlisted. Well you only have 2 Armor slots per side so really the only way to simulate the numerical superiority of the American Sherman they added the Jumbo. And even though it is not historically accurate for the summer of 44 it does somewhat balance the armor battlefield …
Before this I was against the Jumbo but now I can somewhat justify it’s existence in Normandy …
we can stop talking about the jumbo this story has been going on for 4 days nothing against anyone but this for sure will be yet another flame topic based on him save yourself a little for him
I was using the jumbo on invasion mission and we had pretty good luck on the first 3 objectives. After clearing the 3rd My Jumbo was in need of repairs and since everyone was moving to the next objective I figured now was a good time to exit.
I was running with a 3 man crew and the moment we exited I was attack by a knife wielding German, who proceeded to murder my commander and gunner. And just as the gunner was being stabbed to death, I saw my AI controlled driver shooting the German at point blank range with his 45.
After repairs my driver by himself got back in the Jumbo and proceeded to the next objective … Unfortunately a Puma did show up to make short work of him but It was a cool moment.
using infantry is the most effective way to take out a tank, personally I enjoy bullying a tank before destroying it if it is isolated for example: going around a t28 lie down go under it and blow myself up
I’m not sure if it’s the engine’s armor pen. calculation in Enlisted compared to War Thunder’s current one but American 75’s would absolutely shred the Panzer IV J and H if Darkflow Studios just gave them the M61 shells that the M72 shells currently used in game were replaced by way before the Normandy campaign began. All it really takes is a slight angle from an enemy tank to completely nullify the 88 mm of pen. done by the M72 at 0°, which is just above the amount needed to punch through the IV H’s 80 mm 11-12° angled front plate even when the game’s reticle tells you that the round should pen. M61 shells would instead offer 101 mm at 100 m at 0° (Source: War Thunder).
As per the M5A1 Rhino, I’m expecting M61 shells to be restricted to event tanks but I really hope they just change it all across the board since the Jumbo wouldn’t even be needed if that were the case. It would also slow down the power creep you see in people rightfully asking for higher penning tank cannons with the Panther D or Tiger E (Which mostly fought in British sectors) to counter it.
What kind of strawman are you trying to argue against here?
I never said anything about the US needing the Jumbo to fight the Tiger (that it couldn’t possibly pen same as the Panther)
