My Take on Console vs PC Posts

Hello everyone, this is a small rant of sorts, or just me throwing out my two cents into the whole “Console vs PC” talks that come up from time to time, that more often than not, whether here on the forum or on Reddit or elsewhere. It’s often to snide, discredit and mock console players.

I personally think a decent handful of it is in bad faith, at times phrased to be that “Console players are the worst ever”, “Console players on your team means you’ll lose.”, “Console easier than bots”, etc etc.

Usually accompanied by a screenshot showing some console players, usually on the team of the Author that initially made the post, most of the time not doing very good at all. Often then making some remark or another how “they always lose because of console players like this”.

And from my perspective as someone who play’s on console exclusively, playing on PS5 with over 1200 hours in the game. I’ve noticed an almost entirely equal spread of playing across every platform that are all equally capable of playing poorly, not playing the objective, not building rallies, not destroying vehicles and in general not contributing to the success of the team.

I understand as well as anyone here and elsewhere losing sometimes really sucks, especially if you yourself are a decent player. I know how it feels to immediately look at the scoreboard and in the moment attribute the loss to 1,2 or 3 people.

But the reality of it is that it’s much more nuanced. Someone can not have the best amount of kills, but can always be putting down rallies, or doing any of the aforementioned tasks I mentioned above. Someone can have a whole load of kills. But at the same time little to no engineer score, or even objective kills, or zero capture progress on the objective, kill and or KD farming.

Sometimes even great players can leave their team with a harder battle if they decide to leave as soon as the first point is lost or a legitimate ragequit, they’ve become as useful as what’s taken their place there after, a bot. There’s so many many factors into what wins or loses a game, for yourself or the enemy.

And sometimes the enemy is just better all around, that’s the reality of it.

Now I’m going to attach some game screenshots below of the scoreboard across multiple games just today. (Thursday 22nd May, AEST) And with each of them, win or lose, one could so easily narrow in on one specific player or two, or a few. Then make a post and erroneously claim “(X) players are the absolute worst, I always lose because of them”).

I just want to share my thoughts and provide this little exercise to try and show that regardless of what platform someone players on, it doesn’t inherently prove the worth of said player/s.

One neat thing about being on PS5 is that you can see who is and isn’t a bot, as well as who’s on PC, PlayStation or Xbox, indicated by the icon left of their name

This was a BR1 game.
Without any context it’d be very easy for someone to make a hyperbolic and false statement that they ‘lost because of PC players’. Which if you deliberately removed every bit of nuance to contribution in the game, and you only attribute victory to Kills and or Scoreboard placement, then one could come to that disingenuous conclusion.

In reality it was a combined efforts of not enough people pushing the objective and building rallies. Of which the enemy team just did better all around. Regardless of platform.

I’ll put the next games below and I’ll leave what I’ve said here and above as examples of exaggeration, and actuality.

These are just games from today, there shouldn’t be an overarching conclusion that vilifies any one platform. So don’t read too deep into them, beyond what I’m trying to explain as above, that everyone regardless of platform is equally capable of contributing and not contributing to victory.

(Mentions of BR are what my entire personal line-up is comprised of)

BR2 game

BR2 game, this one was extremely close and even.

BR3 game, unbelievably close.

A very quick BR5 game

One can with any one of these jump the gun to decide the ‘one singular thing that won the game’ but I just don’t think that’s true or fair. That’s a lot that goes into it and I just think people should try to punch down on console players a bit less.

Also yes I know sometimes it’s done in the context of humour and just poking a lil fun, like clips of people potato aiming or whatever and that stuff is fine and funny don’t get me wrong.

Anyhow that’s my two cents on all this. For extra context and so that you understand I have some what of an idea of what I’m talking about, here’s my current stats. Also feel free to watch any of my replays for any further vindication, if you so wish.

With much love :jp:

idk why you opened new topic when we had one recently also opened by console player

also those posts are really not seen often at least on this forum.

on regards to PC vs console, average PC player is superior to average console just cause they use M&K and as such it is way easier to accurately aim at enemy. do bad PC players exist? yes. do good console players exist? yes.

but out of all games i played, in probably ~90% of them i will have top spot(as PC player). out of the remaining 10% of the games where someone was better than me, there is 90-95% chance of them being PC player and 5-10% of them being console player who played some kind of vehicle(usually plane).

when i see leaderboard, i cant be certain if players on bottom of leaderboard are PC players or bots, but i can tell when they are console players. when i see upper half of leaderboard i usually notice more PC players than console players.

for me these kind of debates are pointless cause it was never about PC player vs console player. it was about skill vs no skill. i would always take skilled console player over no skill PC player.

Let’s be real—console players come in all types. I’ve seen some who genuinely try to compete on an even playing field, and I’m sure they were using adapters to play with mouse and keyboard.

I don’t want to be too harsh—I get how tough it is to play shooters on console, even with aim assist, without resorting to adapters or other borderline-cheating methods.

About 20% are solid teammates—players who actually put in effort, play objectives, hold their own in gunfights, and excel in vehicles. These players deserve respect.

But let’s talk about the other 70-80% of PS/Xbox players… Many perform worse than bots. At least bots cap points and don’t waste team resources by hogging vehicles.

The biggest issue? Zero teamplay mentality. You can tell when someone’s just chilling on their couch, playing for personal stats rather than the win. And hey—if that’s how you want to play, fine. But why queue into crossplay with PC players and make it harder for yourself (and your team)?

When I see more than 5 console players on my team, I know I’ll basically have to carry for three people. It’s not fun watching console teammates wander around, inspecting textures or “learning the map” mid-match.

And the communication barrier makes it worse. Our only options are spamming quick commands. I’ve lost matches purely because of this—like when an enemy tank was dominating a hill, we had no AT options, but our console teammate kept respawning in a plane with no way to ask them to switch. We only won after finally taking out the tank ourselves.

So no, I’m not saying all console players are bad—I’ve met some great ones. But the majority’s casual approach ruins the experience. And the worst part? You can opt out of crossplay—we can’t.

Would love to hear others’ thoughts—am I being unfair, or is this a real issue?

In my perspective this is a little hyperbolic, I’d say half is more fair. And with being on console myself I can almost rephrase exactly this to PC players, based on my PoV. But I know that’s not true, hell there’s even times where I can find myself loathing console players myself. But then the next game that feeling can become completely replaced and redirected towards PC players.

I think a lot of it comes down to a majority of us here on the forum being pretty decent or experience with the game, understand the core, fundamentals and other attributes of winning games and then in that position without realising it we can easily form bias.

At the end of the day I’m just saying both console and PC can both be just as bad or good. Tho PC does have a lil bit of an edge because of a better more precise input of controls, which can make it so they are least get more kills.

But otherwise I can pretty well understand and agree with you. The communication especially is a big problem imo, that alone would help a lot. Even if console could just see the chat, being able to use it would be even better! But alas, one day I hope.

I felt like whilst my topic was similar in relation to that thread, my own thoughts and what I presented went into an additional further aspect of how we can at times form bias, or that one can be misled by images at face value concerning pc vs console, so I felt it differed enough to warrant being its own thread.

Sort of a slight meta analysis of the player base and how being in a certain perspective can warp things. Like me being on Console, being put with mostly PC, and very very consistently I’m in the top 3 or first in my team, how it would be so easy for me to write off PC players because they can do bad, or visa versa.

I think from the point of view for most of us on the forum we do better than most players all in all, so it can at times make us have more scrutiny upon one group of players or another.

As for averages, I’d say yes PC players do better on average where kills specifically are concerned. But, both sides are equally capable of not playing beyond just getting kills, at least from my point of view that’s how I’ve seen it a majority of the time. But that still would put PC players just a bit above the average console players in the end, but sometimes not by a whole lot in terms of helpfulness.

Idk, I just want there to be better communication in game for console and PC. I wish there was a chat for us and stuff like that, it’d really help a bunch. Hell I wouldn’t even mind if they ever tried out a Battlefield-like random squad system where solos get bunched up here and there just for that game with game chat between each other.

I won’t even argue that PC players also have small brains. However, after playing 8,300+ battles since 2021, this is the subjective impression I’ve formed. But if I had to choose between a team of average PC players or skilled console players, I’d actually have to think about it.

Another important factor is server choice and playtime. Judging by the fact that you’re from Japan (or possibly Australia, based on your username), our peak hours might not align. Personally, I prefer the US server to get more console players or folks who aren’t as sweaty—my timezone is GMT+3. But its boring 4 me. I prefer go at Ru/Eu and sometimes i play vs squad. Your experience might be different. Good games

Honestly same lmao. It’s a pretty mixed bag no matter how you slice it. But yeah I’m in Australia, I usually play at around 3-5pm AEST or later around 9pm to midnight varying some days. I just queue for any servers whatsoever all the time, so idk I’m just gamble maxing teammates game to game lol. Anyhow good games and here’s to more!
