During this massive war weapons, equipment, and vehicles were captured and used between all sides. However for this game I feel “capture content” should be strictly regulated and added within specific contexts. You play as a faction so you can experience them and play with their unique arsenal of weapons and vehicles. It is lazy to have copy and pastes between factions and ruins the unique feel of every faction if both sides are running around with the other’s gear
We already have this to some degree with America getting a Panzerschreck, Soviets having the Panzerfaust, and I imagine it will continue to grow and get worse. They could eventually give the Allies the Stg, Germans the M2 Carbine, or the Soviets the MG 42
I think capture content should only be added if the faction modified it in anyway, that way it is a truly unique piece of content. For example, the Mp 717 is a PPSh that was modified to use German 7.63 Mauser ammunition as opposed to 7.62 Tokarev. It may be very minor but it is still a unique change.
Two other captured Soviet weapons are in the German arsenal, a sawed off PPSh and a PPS 43. In order to make these two weapons actually unique (no matter how small) they should be rechambered to 7.63. It’s the thought that counts. This can also be used to give Germany a captured PPD
Another example could be a captured T-34 and even a KV-2 with a German installed Panzer III commander cupola. It may be a small change, but it’s a unique change and makes it a unique piece of content
To correct the wrong kind of capture content, the American Panzerschreck and Soviet Panzerfausts should be replaced with proper faction equipment. The Allies can receive the M20 Bazooka and Ordnance RCL 3.45-in.
The Soviets can receive the PTG-44, LPG-44, and TPG-90
