Much preferred when you could choose which campaign to play rather than the BR system

Hate having to mess around with changing around squads to lower or raise BR just to be able to play certain maps. I think the game was much better when you could just choose which campaign you wanted to play.

yeah but wait times are better, the main problem is ww2 lol here me out in all other games you select by level that is it no faction restriction what ever br qs you have must be trippled so br 1-3 3-5 is not 2 qs but six
1-2 3-4 5 is not three but nine and br 1 2 3 4 5 is not five but fifteen
you sperate italy and uk you have 10 15 and 25 qs makes the head spin

the same is true of campaigns which was already up to eight, don’t know how they handled br but i don’t think all weapons could be played together. so say two br groups that’s 16 qus. which would have only increased as new campaigns were added.

But i don’t remember wait times ever being bad? Like if i want to play normandy then BR5 gets me there but when i want to play tunisia then i need BR3 but then still end up in normandy half the time. It’s just boring because i feel like theres less map rotation this way??

Just add ALL maps to all BR’s.
Preferred map system top of that.

wait times were never bad

matches were bad
and sometimes they still are.

But then they need to introduce map selector. I play low br so i can avoid playing berlin

I’ve gone from supporting the idea of BR’s, to realising it changes nothing because more experienced players just use low BR loadouts to farm noobs anyway. I actually seem to see more ‘sweaty try-hard’ behaviour in lower BR’s than in BR 5. I’m currently quite enjoying BR 5 since at least there’s no sense of unfairness when you end up against enemies with superior weapons. BR 5 is far less attractive to the type of people who just want to exploit the system for easy wins/kills. They have to actually face opponents who aren’t so easy to dominate.

Also, with the old system you had a stronger motivation to unlock better weapons. There was also the challenge of making the best of the stuff you had, and becoming proficient in using certain weapons and tactics. For example, I used to focus mainly on longer-range engagements with bolt-actions and sniper rifles, simply because I didn’t have any high-ROF SMG’s to compete with the sweaties on the objective. As soon as I unlocked some half-decent SMG’s I would have Assaulters with 2nd weapon unlocked to combine the fairly weak short-range/CQB SMG with the still very effective basic bolt-action rifle (which I still use in BR 5 even now). It would still be better if Assaulters could use any bolt-action rifle (like Guerrillas and APC drivers), as that would help the people who don’t have high-end weapons.

btw - I was contemplating doing a YT video demonstrating a really weird advantage to using some of the lower-end bolties. Has anyone else noticed that certain low-end rifles drop back onto target after recoil rather nicely compared to more ‘high-end’ rifles. Just try out the Springfield / Mosin Carbine / Kar98k compared to higher-BR bolties and watch where your sights end up if you deliberately don’t move the mouse / gamepad. Those low-BR basic rifles have a really nice habit of falling perfectly back down onto target, wheras the higher-BR rifles (including semi-autos etc.) will end up climbing so you have to move your aim back down to re-aquire the target before firing again.

That and it gives this illusion that some things are inherently superior in every way to other things, and the inferior weapon can never compete with the superior weapon. Which in most cases in this game is inherently false, but it feeds that mindset and thus you have the “muh ±1” crowd

higher rate of fire, depends on the gun but sf rifles are better than sa
bigger magazine, unless a magazine that is twice as big takes twice as long to reload its a straight upgrade
smgs and machine guns with bigger mags are superior unless they come with an accuracy penalty
ars are superior to smgs unless the smg has a far bigger magazine say 30rd ar to 50 rd smg
tanks that have more armor and bigger guns are a straight upgrade, if i have to hit you in the mg port and you can hit my everything thats a major hurdle

so yes bolt actions can compete with sa a little because bots love bolties but in general higher br gear is all upside with no down side
