Personally I don’t agree with this idea at all. Yes, this plane excels at destroying tanks, but:
it absolutely sucks at everything else, it’s SUPER specialised
we already have BR1 planes that can destroy every tank with their bombs
Saying all that, I wouldn’t mind if Hs 129 was moved to BR2. For one simple reason: to make space at BR1 for this little guy:
No thanks. I think very few people will be able to fly this truck anyway. I personally won’t fly this. Only people with war thunder nostalgia will. And br 3 would be more reasonable than br 5. But I personally would keep it on br 2.
75MM isnt even the feature that makes it decent…Its the ammunition behing APHE. If it was AP it would be very “meh” with only 13 rounds
BR 1: there are two other Cannon birds. The Hurricane 40mm and the Lag3-34 can crack all tanks while being able to outfly a large amount of their oponents. Something the HS-129 cannot do.
BR 3: IL-2-37, BF110 -g2 and Yak9k are leagues better than the HS-129. It Does not fit alongside them
BR: 4/5 it would be pure junk (you could still kill tanks sure…but why would you pick this to do it other than fun)
Hs-129 while fun and a capable tank buster, is next to USELESS versus planes and Infantry…its a 1 trick pony…seriously you would be better off with other planes that can do everything, including busting tanks (or more than one thing)

It flies super slow, after an attack there is hardly enough speed to gain enough altitude to perform another.
Yes it’s fun to attack tanks with the cannon but this plane will lose to any plane attacking it.
BR 1 is just fine.
why would someone want it to br5? it have 13! round 13! that is not a lot already and whoever this is want it br5 cause what? it can 1 shot br5 tank? wow then i guess by this logic every plane with bomb should be br5 according to whoever this is? wow just wow

The duck is too slow for anything but BR1.
Flying AT gun is fun until you destroy an enemy tank and he comes back as a fighter.

after playing 10 games with the plane i can conclude that its perfectly placed in br1 and is too bad for br2. it only works once someones got very proficient with it but then its still barely playable at br2 compared to the good stukas.
something like the yak on BR4 is MUCH better in every regard and that plane is only BR4 level. enlisted players need to cultivate a culture of intelligently anaylzing power levels and call randoms out who talk out of their asses, as the dude wanting perfectly placed BR1 stuff to be BR5.
It only does one thing right, but it’s simply great at it and i think it’s the most important role of attacker planes (destroying tanks). I think BR1 for IAR and Hs 129 is wrong. For me BR2 would make sense… however i think hs129 is better than a bunch of BR3 planes, like pe-2, pe-3, tbf…
The Ju-87G is just too iconic to be left out. it’s AT guns don’t have postpen. it will be horrible, but at least better than the seagull. 2 things will make it even worse than it should be:
with broken upgrades, it will be barely flyable
with no gun convergence, you basically get only 1 gun
Any plane with bombs can destroy tanks but at least they can use those bombs to kill inf as well and in most cases can also attack other planes that are not dumb enough to get outturned by a flying snail.
Also: Can we also move the LaGG to BR3 then? It can wreck everything up to a Panzer IV (maybe even V) while still killing planes and even infantry decently.
i played with it more and now i think it’s quite alright where it’s at. my opinion is the same as OP, making it BR2 is alright in the case we add ju-87G.
i don’t know what you meant about the lagg, but yes with its bombs it can wreck everything, just like other bombs (bigger = more margin). or did you mean strafing only? i wonder if its 12mm uses same damage model as the il-2 late gunner, which they made much stronger than any other airborne gun of same size.
Can pen an Panzer IV frontal while still being able to kill infantry and planes while not being a brick to fly and no one seems to bitch about that.
Though they managed to put the Yak-9T in BR4 so I don’t know what went wrong here.
