Mounting and bipods. Where and why they aren't working (with screenshots and videoproofs)

  1. Because game depicts moments of intense combat, all stocks and bipods should be unfolded

    Bren Mk.I and MK.II
    Breda .30
    MG 15
  1. Prone
All guns should be shouldered and therefore, be much higher, than now. There is no other way to shoot gun in prone without “mounting” it in your hands

    Proning

“Mounted” (as you can see, gun still not shouldered and “mounted”, but soldier at least stops clipping under ground)

Therefore: always apply “mounted” effect on the ground, without making it a separate action (but allow to rotate 360 freely)
    Not “mounted” and shouldered

“Mounted” (still not shouldered and all bipods clip under ground)

  2. Crouching and standing
Very limited angles - soldier can’t lean forward/backward and to sides to lower/raise or rotate his gun

Can’t mount gun to shoot ascending and descending areas

All Moscow log houses either won’t allow you to mount or will clip you gun into wall

I’ve tried to collect all problems, but if you know some more, add them there

Also, you can rebind mounting to RMB, therefore making mounting much easier, but because of problems, listed above, its almost useless

i mean, this is just the visuals behind the bipod mechanic, the devs simply could add a useful accuracy multiplier when your MG is “deployed”, however it seems accuracy is not noticeably adjusted for bipod MGs.

No recoil, when mounted.

But this is pointless, because rn you cant aim at your eneme with all angle restrictions, clipping etc.

I’m just saying I’ve been using bipods very effectively. Of coarse they could use some tweaks but for the most part I think they’re fine

recoil means nothing when your bullets have the same spread no matter if you have a bipod or not.

recoil =/= accuracy, I am talking about bullet spread / deviation

One of the problem is that DF outsource their 3d modelling to different art studios.
They outsource the creation of environmental assets to different people at different studios.

DF designers should have more strict guidelines for the creation of assets, as shown by the picture above the window is too low to mount a weapon when in crouch position, and too high to mount when prone.

This means we f*** up very bad.
Every map and every corner needs to be rebuild from start
Would they do that ?
Absolutely not
G41 realod problem is still there more than 2 years.
Imagine how much time we have to wait for good bipods

I expect it will take 3 years more
