Mountain pass bad design

The new map is pretty bad and it seems that it has higher chance of being chosen across different modes of battle.

Defense battles on any map in this game is just horrendous.

Newly added maps usually get selected for battle sooner than normal

Yeah lots of maps are very badly designed in the game and the game devs need to reasses the current maps to improve/fix them. Some of the major ones off the top of my head are,
-Pacific point’s lacking significant amounts of cover
-Trenches being to narrow so half the AI squad ends up outside the trench on the top (Mostly Moscow and Pacific maps beside New Georgia suffers from this)
-Point’s designed which heavily favour’s one side be it cover or just entrances to the point, the best one I can think of off the top of my head is the apartment point after you take the Theatre with the only way into the point for the AI is through doorways facing the enemy spawn.
-All the bulge maps just feel a pain to play (But this is a personal nitpick)

Some maps are just unplayable in reverse unless the enemy team is completely hapless, usually the problem is exacerbated by grayzones being insane, blocking one side from actually securing crucial map control

I agree.

@Edward55418 @AsteroidSolid33

Great points here.

Ive been hoping they would add France-Poland-Belgium-Netherlands faction and as a part of that, a new Dunkirk map.
Reverse D Day would stop so we would just have D Day (Allies attacking) and Dunkirk (Allies defending).

I wrote a list of suggested new maps on my post about said new faction.

As for existing ones yeah agree with all points and @empzealoth 100% about the greyzone. Haters wonder why we want the greyzone removed, one of the many reasons is how it limits flanking and alternate routes (including when blown up tanks block the only road or bridge and theres no way to move them).

I think DF really needs to consider the following:

Removing hated maps such as Khalif caves and Reverse D Day.

Rework existing maps like the ones mentioned above.
For example the Ardennes/Bulge maps where theres two hills and a big valley and every match is just some tryhard on one of the hills with an uptier tank spamming HE on the infantry in the valley who have zero cover.

Choose wisely when creating new maps

There have been various ideas and debates for what new maps/theatres should be added to the game. One of the problems with DF is they waste months on ‘new’ maps that are just copy paste of existing assets and in the same theatres with similar situations.

Like mountain pass as a whole I think is an alright map, interesting to get a proper snow map for the Allies. However it is quite literally just copy pasted assets from Normandy/Bulge including the exact same wooden church objective and powerhouse objective.

I understand maps take time to create, which is why I really wish DF would sit down and properly think about what would be a beneficial addition to the game. Listening to the playerbase would be especially helpful.

For myself Ive been arguing that the Pacific and Tunisia maps are all the same old same old. Ive said it before, Ill say it again there was a ‘new’ map for New Georgia added and wed all forgotten it was even new after a couple days because it was just the exact same thing as every other Pacific map.

The Pacific especially is a joke given that out of the entire Imperial Japanese expansion in WWII, all we get is maps based on not even the Solomon Islands, but just one specific section of the Solomons.

Being Australian Ive asked for New Guinea since that was the first place an Allied army held back the Japanese. The Kokoda Track imo is perfect for an FPS and we would finally get proper jungle fighting. Since the fighting was inland it would be different to existing maps.
A counterargument has been the issues in game with bullets and vegetation.

So another popular suggestion has been Manila. This would give Allies and Japan an urban warfare map, which we havent really gotten before. VERY different to existing Pacific maps and works for both early and late war.
Myself and others have also suggested Burma which again would be completely different to Solomons maps, really interesting aesthetics with temples and jungle and so forth. Also an opportunity for British Indian squads.

Likewise for Tunisia Ive suggested Tobruk, again the first time an Allied (Australian) army stopped the Germans. A portside city would be different to existing maps and is an opportunity for more Allied squads like Australia, New Zealand, British India, Free Polish and Free Czech. We already have an Italian Tobruk squad in game.

A final note I remembered. Regarding Normandy, our current D Day map also needs to be removed and replaced. It is crazy to me there were 5 real life beaches yet best DF can do is a completely made up monstrosity that is just bad in every way.
Ive suggested Juno beach before since its less hilly (hills/mountains in Enlisted dont work well) and is a Canadian beach which gives them some much needed credit (Canadian squads anyone? Note that the first Allied soldiers the world saw land on D Day were Canadians).

that will split playerbase although french would be cool.
but we have the chatellerault as a gold order so… i dont thin it will ever be

Reverse D day is cancer.
no one in a war would retreat leaving the enemy in a high position

i dont like grey zones cause limits the freedom of the player.
i remember HnG and all in that game was fun
but that was a big map and multiple objectives to capture
you could hide a tank or a apc.
and never been spoted by the enemy

i like Khalif although i understand the HOLE objective thing
but its fun
exception is in confrontation mode when you dont reach the next objective in time to capture

well there is new models for buildings in bulge maps.
at least we could give them that.

ye i know the church
could have been more… interesting.

maybe

Pacific has 3 maps and become boring fast specially if you play japanese.

i love Tunisia btw but yeah
maps feel samey cause they are made of few building models.
so the place you use to cover from enemy fire always feel uninteresting.
only the position matters.

i vote for more maps in pacific
is an interesting location.
they should put more focus there
that or a new front japan soviets.

ye, in normandy
the stupid plant that slows you down has anti bullet properties.

anywhere but Europe has more potential to surprise players
i could say Italy would be cool too ( and they could ad the OG 44)

:sunglasses:

but if you are going to copypaste buildings
better to force the devs with “exotic” landscapes (Pacific and North Africa)
so that way they are not tempted to ctr+c ctr+v

Werbig is also a terrible map as it only allows for a frontal attack which means an average monkey can hold off an attack with a pistol . Ok, slight exaggeration there, but that is an example of one of DF’s several bad maps. There are to many maps which are poorly designed creating frontal only attacks, or DF restricts the better maps making them almost impossible to do flanking attacks. DF in all honesty is just poor at creating maps for game play. They look nice, but between the design and their set parameters they do all they can to make the gaming suck. Just widening the gray zone CONSIDERABLE would make a world of difference on the bigger maps, and redesign or shit can the narrow frontal attack only maps. They should also figure out a way of having cap points randomly changing as people all know and take advantage of knowing where the next cap point is going to be.
