Motorized Infantry

I suggest to implement transportation (and light attack) vehicles for all troops.

FOR ALL TROOPS!!! Yeah… but with some mechanics. I will explain.

First let’s showcase what kind of stuff I am talking about:
American M3 Half Tracked with MGs
grafik
German half track
grafik

And here are some details to the machanic:

  • You can buy multiple instance of those vehicles per campaign.
  • You get a new area, like the soldier management screen, where you can visit and manage your motor pool.
  • Each squad can be assigned one transportation vehicle.
  • You can unassign it again as well.
  • If a vehicle is assigned. The squad is handled as a vehicle. That means:
** You can bring only a certain amount of them into battle at the cost of missing tanks or planes. (Squad composition)
** You cannot spawn them freely anymore. A free tank spawn must be available. You can drop this restriction in battle by saying that you want to spawn without vehicle.

in H&G they work great, in enlisted not so much.

Maybe when they give us bigger maps

trusay these maps are too small for half tracks. they aren’t well armoured enough and would get fucked

Well I kinda disagree. The maps are big enough for tanks, so they are big enough for those vehicles.
And the ratio of vehicles stays with this suggestion same.

Tanks and infantry carriers don’t play the same role though

Half tracks would also make the early AT rifles usable again as they could actually damage them easily. I could see half tracks first coming to Tunisia where they would be a great help

No they do not have the same role. But that counters not the argument against “the maps are too small”.

According to that argument motorcyles would be a big mistake too. Because you do not need them.
They are pretty good to reach flanks and enable you to do some cool stuff.
Same goes for motorized infantry

Being able to quickly move to a position and move from it away is not to underestimate.
Also the possibility to rush through open terrain with less chance to get sniped.

Nah, motorcycles work as a quick 2-3 man solution to getting rallies down or flanking with an mg. Infantry transports are big, cumbersome and not that fast. Its just a great way to get a 9 man squad nailed by a .50 or a piat or something. It wouldn’t work on these small maps because you have at most 100m to travel to get anywhere useful. These vehicles were used for longer distances, not to thrust troops straight into enemy fire.

having everyone be able to spawn in a transport truck would be a mistake-they would very quickly fill up the battle zone
maby have the option to use a transport truck instead of a tank and other payers can enter- to make them better also have the carry ammo for your team

Please reread my post. They would use tank spawns.
So the number of vehicles are limited.

Not really, the US M3 half tracks were so poorly designed, that even german machine guns could penetrate it’s armor plating, they were called “Purple Heart boxes” for a reason.
German ones were a bit better, cause they were designes as Assault vehicles, having sloped side armor, and a bit better protection against infantry.
I don’t see any of them being implemented as an infantry transport, they are just too easy targets in my opinion.

ah, sorry, i misunderstood that part

Yeah sorry. Not my mother tonque

i would like them so badly to be honest.

( so that i can buy skins for ma halftracks and decorations as well to happily spend money on my fashion-wagon )

and kinda reminds me of my old and ignored idea:

( sorry for the spam :upside_down_face: )
( keep in mind that is old, and we didn’t knew the puma was supposed to be a starter tank, nor that we could have multiple selective class upgrades )

problem is…

maps are to small. they could still be effective in my opinion, but maps are really that small.

Quickly move?
We are talking about 100-150m distances between spawns and objective.
People dont even use the motorcycles and the map vehicles (anyone actually used the boats?). Whats the point of sth. nobody is going to use anyway?

We are talking about 100-150m distances between spawns and objective.

That is a quite one dimensional view that ignores flanking. And if you want to shift from left flank to right flank it is quite a distance.

People dont even use the motorcycles

Yeah. Maybe. But that is not my problem. Isn’t it? It would be a feature you can use, but you don’t have to if it does not cater your playstyle.
In my opinion ppl to often just run in a straight line to the objective, but to discuss that you can fill a whole new topic.

Whats the point of sth. nobody is going to use anyway?

Simply put: Diversity.
Let’s remove all guns that are not used. All classes that are not often used. And all vehicles no ones uses.
Do you feel it? It feels empty…and in my opinion… boring.

diversity exist when its functional, example : having to choose between shotgun and smg is not divresity bc shotgun are useless and you will be stupid to choose them.

I would preffer to have special squads to use APCs to be honest.
Mostly because not all squads used halftracks. So giving one to a squad that never had one (take a note that squad names are historical) is a no no in my opinion.

Also I think that firstly we would have to change maps a bit. Because APCs were used to safelly transport troops for example through open areas. Now look at the Tunisia campaign, you basically fight from building to building. There are only a few sections of the maps in each campaign that are really open and could use APCs, but there are so scarce and so short that APC would be a dead weight in your roster.

Outside of that, yeah sure. I want my Panzergrenadier Regiment!

I am so a stupid guy, but boah are those shotguns fun in houses.

My stormtroopers have smg and shotgun and I really enjoy it.

I must be the best example that you can play very well as a brainless guy.

Seems to be another example for: You don’t like it, don’t use it. BUT hell good that it is here.
