Moscow Axis Armor Premium - Stug or Pz IV E?

Hello,

I am just returning to this game after a short break and was excited to see the addition of Stugs!

I am curious how the Stug A plays currently in the Moscow campaign compared to the premium Panzer IV E?

I know the stug doesnt have the machine gun, so crowd control might be an issue, but it seems to have thicker amour and might be harder to hit and knock out?

I am just curious which would be a better option (I will probably get both at some point in time), but for now, what would be a more solid choice?

I like taking out the non premium pazner IV E for anti infantry support along with limited anti-tank, until a t-34 comes rolling on in which I cant seem to do much too until my tank is completely destroyed.

Is the stug a bit more survivable?

Any advice and opinions are super appreciated.

Is that premium 4E come with HEAT?
At least in Stalingrad, that PZ3N’s HEAT can deal with T-34 and KV1 pretty effectively.

(Also, Enlisted anniversary sale should be coming at Nov 10th. If you want to save some money, wait till that sale comes.)

Yes it does come with HEAT, and thanks for the heads up on the sale!

Stug carries less ammo and no MG, but cheaper and 50mm armor on front

If you can only choose 1 take the Pz IV E. Weapon performance is practically the same they both have access to HEAT and AP. Survivability is practically the same but the Stug is a bit smaller however has less visibility. The real drawback the Stug III A suffers from is it has half the ammo capacity of the Pz IVE. So because you lack a MG34 you’ll be firing primarily HEAT at Infantry as well as thicker armored Soviet tanks and you’ll be making constant trips back to the resupply point.
Pz IV however has double the ammo and a MG34 to help deal with Infantry targets so you don’t need to throw as much HEAT ammo around

Great point!

I have not been able to really find any content online with players talking about how the Stug plays in the current “moscow meta”

I have seen a ton of how the pz IV is very powerful - however expensive, because the performance gain you get from the HEAT shell is just slightly better to what you get with the non-premium pz IV E.

Well. You can more or less reliable frontal pen a T-50.
Thats something and debatable p2w. Dont try T-34s though.

Is there any German Armor in Moscow currently that could handle a T 34?

I own both, Stug is cheaper but the reasons I mentioned are why it’s cheaper. Panzer IV gets more bang for the buck

I’ve been reliably dealing with cocky T34 drivers in my Panzer III J1 with the 50mm L/60. The less adventurous players are a pain to deal with though because the T34 will easily 1 tap most German vehicles 90% of the time. My point being its difficult to deal with them fighting om their terms

Based on your advice, I picked up the Pz IV E premium today, and I am really enjoying it, I wish I would of pulled the trigger on this awhile ago!

How good is the J1 against T-34? I heard it cant penetrate the hull.

got both too
this was the right Decision. Playing Stug without 3 other Squadmates is Suizide, take a Plane its faster

It can but it can’t. Honestly it’s very similar to fighting a Jumbo on Normandy but you’ll get a good hull pen more frequently than that if you have a well placed shot.
