I’ve seen some people belittle the mortar, but the mortar is a great weapon on certain maps. These 14 kills came when the game just started, this was my very first dude and he dropped 14 without moving more then 20 meters. I ended up with probably 20-24 mortar kills between my two mortar dudes since I only used them once, and this was before I ever got troops into harms way. Most of the rest of the damage I did in my Su-2. It was one of the few close games I have, but I am going to say we lose had I not been in the plane as I blasted every tank I could find, and a few planes to. Funny, I shot down two enemy fighters with my rear gunner, and they shot the shit out of my plane, but she kept flying. I bet they were pissed. 
Usually I am pissed as I don’t think the rear gun does as much damage as it should, but it worked today. I just wish they would make the circle site easier to see when your trying to target the trailing plane.
dam still doesnt convince me to play low br USSR long term ngl (since i do br3 and havent make br1 or 2 set yet)
but nowadays i use any team button since i have finish Axis and Allies (and japan have 1 aircraft left)
ironically they dont want me to play USSR at all and keep making me play Axis lol
I never choose any team, so I haven’t experienced that yet.
yea since i almost finish jap and didnt want to bother playing USSR (since their high br player are kinda “mid” to say the least) i just do any team to get the extra RP and silver
People who rag on mortars aren’t smart enough to use mortars
Easy kills, especially if you know the maps and know where the enemy likes to deploy to defend.
If someone is willing to report the enemy’s position to you, mortars are very useful in most open-air maps. Unfortunately, there is hardly any cooperation among players.
Most of the maps I have played so much I usually know where the enemy likes to wait for you, especially when the game first starts because the enemy is scrambling outside to get to their favorite ambush site. 
Tbh I know where people would go my only grip with mortar squad is how God dam long it is to level up tbh
