In summary, I want to give players more ways to get gold-order weapons without making them too easy to get/common.
I suggest adding a set of challenges to every campaign. Similar to the current achievement system, that would allow players to earn 1 gold order weapon per faction per campaign. I am going to stress that this gold order weapon would ONLY be usable in the faction that earned it. It would reward players for playing more than 1 faction, as they could play several factions in order to get more of these special gold orders to try out some of the gold weapons.
The challenges in each faction could take inspiration from or even replace the current achievement system, and also take inspiration from recent popular events. This would mean that players could be tasked with things like “get a certain number of bolt action kills” then “get 5,000 score” to progress in the challenges.
The challenge system would need to be balanced so reaching the end of the challenges would be a difficult process. But I think giving players more ways to get gold-order weapons would be a great addition to the game, building on one of enlisted’s greatest strengths, weapon variety. Many of the gold order weapons are not viable and thus never used, giving players more access to gold order weapons in this way would allow more players to earn some of these weapons without flooding the game with what should be rare weaponry.
One example I have is that normandy allies currently has 6 gold order options available. Players only being able to recieve 1 gold order weapon per season means they consistently have to choose what campaign they want their precious gold order to go towards. If a player is already heavily invested in allies normandy, they may just buy the new allies normandy gun, and never experience any of the other gold order weapons for other factions. The challenge system would allow players to earn a gold order weapon usable only for the faction in which it is earned, leading to no regret on investing in a campaign you never play and allowing players to earn gold order weapons they otherwise would never have considered buying.
At it’s core, the challenge system would encourage people try more campaigns. So that players can get a more complete experience of the game and the player populations of all the campaigns is more balanced.
I think this is a really good idea as a way to alternatively earn gold orders, maybe they could be either a single or series of monthly challenges available from the 1st till the end of the month and refreshes the 1st of every month
Monthly challenges could be a good idea! However, I think monthly gold weapon orders could make them too common. Maybe monthly challenges could have some other reward, functioning somewhat like the weekly challenges currently do but more challenging with better rewards.
I think it might be important to come up with some harder challenges as an example for the devs. Here are a few I think might work -
Get a kill with a gun, pistol, grenade, and melee weapon without dying
Get 8 kills with a sniper rifle within 15 meters without dying
Repair 5 allied tanks
Get 5 kills with a bolt action rifle without dying or reloading
These aren’t necessarily hard, but they are at least different to tasks we are doing currently. I think it would be cool if tasks were more specific to each campaign but that would be difficult to implement. Do you have any ideas for more challenging tasks?
Yes there is always the option to buy the weapons for gold. In a f2p game its common to lock content behind paywalls. But from a business standpoint, this system would encourage players to play more campaigns. If players play more campaigns, they may spend money on more campaigns (premium squads, gold orders etc.), potentially increasing profits.
You can very easily treat the game as freemium and never buy anything other than premium (and campaign access now I guess). I’ve got 6 gold weapon orders and nothing worth spending them on.
ayo bro its like 750 gold per weapon, its an insane amount unless you have the cash to spend, Rather buy the battlepass and get more rewards for the same money.
