First of all guys, well done on the Tunisia campaign, it’s great so far, for the most part there is a lot to like
However I’m disappointed at the amount of German and Amercan squads in the campaign. Now I know that the Americans and Germans did serve in Africa. However the Free French Army had about 5 times the amount of troops the Americans did in the African campaign and they haven’t even had a mention.
I just think the amount of American and squads in the campaign are far too many. considering the size of their deployment there historically. I wanted a British and italian campaign, not a cut and paste of what we already have.
I’m also very disappointed that there are absolutley no British troops in Normandy, (but that’s another topic).
It’s beginning to feel like you have just put lots of American squads in the game so Americans will play it, idk, I could be wrong, but you could have done so much more with this than what you have done.
Also the M1 garand doesn’t belong in this campaign, for the love of god, please don’t turn this game into call of duty.
Overall I do like how the game is developing, just my two cents, thanks for looking.
Why? They should include MORE groups and more weapons not less. It expands the weapons and equipment. You say you want no Americans in Tunisia but want British in Normandy? Kind of a double standard isnt it?
I’m kinda ok with germans and americans in the campaign, it’s just that i would have preferred a different division of the troops: I mean, since the war started between Brits and Italians I would have preferred only squads and weapons from those 2 nations in the first 15-20 levels, with addition of some german/american squads/weapons at the end of the campaign.
Also limiting the equipment to the historically used in the conflict with exeptions only at later levels for balance purposes if there’s the necessity to do so.
bearing in mind that most campaigns will have AT LEAST 40 levels, combined with the premium squads, I’m sure we will see the addition of french (both free and Vichy) Italian and colonial troops to Tunisia.
Why does it not belong here?
It entered service with the US in 1936, and Operation Torch was one of the first major US army offensives So it saw service and therefore, has as much right to be there as anything else.
Quadro did a video about this, I just kind of echoed it. The British forces decided not to use the M1 garand, the lads tried it and prefered the Lee Enfield. In game however its nearly an assault weapon, I can assault points with an M1 Garand squad. With a rifle I have to fight more mid range engagements and leave the close stuff to the assault squads. I feel it changes the dynamic of how the game plays out, just my opinion, no right or wrong, however Tunisia is different and it plays different, and I like that. We shall see.
Not giving americans the Garand would also be odd though too. However I am glad that its the campaign with semi autos locked at the highest level so they will be very rare. Do you have a source for the British not liking the Garand? I’m pretty sure some commando units used them and loved them
I believe commando units used them in small numbers, but true, it wasn’t well liked.
But it still deserves a place in the campaign, otherwise, you’d have to limit the semi-auto italian weapon and G41 and it would produce counter issues.
[TMP] "Garand in British service" Topic according this the commandos wanted to keep the Garand and not the Enfield. Is there a source for where people keep hearing they didnt like the Garand? I would assume the choice to not grab Garands is a logistical one and not a performance one.
Per the wiki. Why bother paying for M1 Garands when you can just use the Enfield that’s more than serviceable?
But as for gameplay, I think the Garand should be left out of the campaign. Tunisia should be the British (Commonwealth) campaign supplemented by American (and Free French!) troops and weapons, while Normandy should be American supplemented by the Commonwealth. I’m okay with stuff like the M1 Carbine, Springfield sniper, etc, but iconic weapons like the Garand, BAR, etc should be in Normandy. Thompsons are okay since the Brits actually did use a lot of Thompsons before the Sten. I’ve already written enough to fill a book about this topic and made several videos, so Ill just say that campaign uniqueness is very important, and repeat weapons seriously take away from the uniqueness of each campaign.
Exactly. It was more of a cost and logistics issue then actually performance. How would you want them to get to level 40 without other countries though? It seems like there wouldnt be enough
I think there is enough to get to 40 if you include lots of commonwealth weapons, vehicles, etc. But tbh with you, I’d argue that if there isn’t enough equipment to make a campaign feel unique and retain an appropriate amount of historical accuracy, then it shouldn’t go to level 40. Honestly, I dont think any of the campaigns right now need to go to 40, since theyre all filled with many “filler” unlocks like the M3a1 Grease Gun, DPM, PPD-40 (in Berlin), Kar98k (Kriegsmodel already in Berlin), upgraded mortars, repeat planes, etc etc etc. I think slimming down the campaigns would both help the grind and help each campaign feel more exciting overall.
They’re going to have to enter fantasy land to get to level 40 on pretty much every campaign if that is the goal. I guess natural progression weapon wise is my biggest issue; after the Enfield No4 there really isn’t a better bolt action. Sure they could do different models of the same gun but that is very repetitive and boring like you said. I dont mind the Garand right now because its at such a high level (the highest of any standard semi auto full powered rifle unlocks) but honestly it could much higher.I have never even seen one in Tunisia yet. I feel like it will be a very rare occurence but sticking it in the high 30s might stop them even more
bingo, also so they can copy paste weapons from other campaigns (thompsons, garands, m1 carbine etc) and have it make sense (however little that may be)
the funny thing is that arrived at lv ?? (I do not remember the level of the English troopers 2) with the English you have completely purged the American
There are like five or six US squads in Tunisia (Rifle, Sniper I, Sniper II, CAS, Engineer II, bike?)
Compared to rifle II, SMG I and SMG II, AT, MG, Engineer, Tank I and Tank II, Fighter, Artillery, Mortar and the Premium squads (Bike, Tank and SMG).
Like 1/3 of Allied squads are US ones (and not even meta ones aside CAS).
Germans are bit more represented though but then again it makes sense (except rifle since there is like one or two German rifle(s)).
