Type 46/66 was a simese copy of gewehr 98 with 8×50mm catridge.
just reskin already existing 98 and ad it to japanese tech tree
this was the standart rifle of thai army in ww2
There isn’t a 95 Mauser in game that I can find. There’s the Mannlicher, if you have them still since they left with the merge, and the straight pull mannlicher, but no small-ring 95 mauser.
If you’re refering to the Mukden Arsenal Mauser (Liao Type 13), it’s a unique rifle sharing characteristics with the 98-pattern 1912 mauser and the japanese type 38, and could be chambered in either 8mm Mauser or 6.5 Arisaka. If they did add it, I’d want to see it basically replicate the Pre-war K98k, Japan has this weird thing where they’re forced to pick between damage or RoF for bolt guns, where most countries have either hard-hitting and fast firing weapons (looking at Winchester 95, No 4 mk 1 lee-enfield) or good all-rounders (pre-war k98k).
It’s cock-on-open, though, and not really a copy. Add it, but give it it’s own model.
Only if they take the bayonets from the type 38 carbine. It bothers the hell out of me that the type 38 has one when it didn’t historically (and the mosin carbines other than the m44), and there are so many weapons that did have them that don’t (winchester 95, etc)
You also have other weapons that they had such as the:
kar 98k - purchased in mass as a replacement for the aging type 38 a long side other weapons.
Vz. 24 - purchased in mass between 1938 and 1939 from the Czechoslovakians to further aid in the aging type 38.
Huang 88 - in mass taken from the Chinese during their conflicts with them.
Type 30 - made alongside other Japanese firearms during the war in large numbers.
They even had access to lever actions that they bought off the Americans in other countries, so if they really wanted they could add a Winchester or Remington lever action for the Japanese.
I would personally take the Huang 88 and make that the Japanese equivalent of the pre-war kar98.
That’s a definite given, just because a country has the same gun as another country doesn’t mean that they didn’t make modifications to it. Just look at bayonets, The Japanese would buy weapons off of other countries and put Japanese bayonet’s on them. And in other cases they would buy these weapons and start mass producing them to where they look almost identical other than maybe a change in wood color or something like a receiver rework for different ammo. It wasn’t just the Japanese that did it everybody kind of went on a grab spree, whether it was buying a weapon, stealing a weapon, or copying a weapon. There’s many ways to make the weapons look unique.
Unique look isn’t the only thing that needs to be focused on though, hence why I mentioned lever actions. aside from the random fake pseudo guns, extremely limited run manufactured weapons and prototypes the next best thing would be lever actions and weapon imports. This would allow the faction to branch out more and not sit with ridiculously slow bolt actions, They would gain far more weapons.
By the end of it they would have:
ridiculously slow bolt actions
fairly decent fire rate bolt actions
solid mid-high ROF bolt action / lever action
poor quality/ bad semi-autos
fair quality/ decent semi-auto
full autos
They pretty much have everything already in the game out of those six rifle categories other than the second and third. As for semi-autos, They have two 5 rounders that are horrible, and the semi decent type 4. So this category can be expanded on as well, But you have to start somewhere. Considering some of the weakest area for the rifles with the Japanese faction is between tier 2 and 4, I wouldn’t see a problem with adding a fair amount of weapons there and throwing in an extra weapon or two in the first tier for rifles. That’s where some of the pre-war imports would come in within BR I, things like the Huang 88, and lever actions in BR II and any missing solid semi-autos in tier 3/4. It wouldn’t be that difficulty keep their originality since they’re already a mix of equipment between the Japanese, Germans, Chinese, and a few other smaller countries.
If I recall correctly, they’d buy only a few then attempt to copy the equipment they purchased. And I heard the TIgers never made it to them before the war ended.
They hated using foreign weapons and thus would only copy and make it themselves.
That would be correct They purchased a tiger tank with the intention on studying and mass-producing their own version with some modifications. As it was being prepared and loaded onto the ship Americans hit the harbor so the Germans had to use the tank which was destroyed in the conflict. Sadly the Japanese tiger never made it and the Japanese were out of money that they spent on it.
