Lend lease.
What do you mean by âseveral factoriesâ? Like, they dissasembled the whole machinery, shipped it to USSR and assembled it?
I left the germans out because they had so many fun options. So i was going to give them their own post. Probably should have stated that. Kinda forgot about the M3A1.
Just turn my M3 Medium into APC just like nature intended.
I donât know that the US sent any factories in WW2, but have you ever wondered why GAZ-AAA trucks looks like older model Fords from the 1920âs? Because the USSR purchased the whole factory.
Also a tire factory.
Hyperwar has a huge list of items sent by LL to all countries - not sure how exhaustive it is as it says it is only âImportant itemsâ⌠(Camel hair brushes are important??) but it is a very large list!
The USSR received a very large proportion of vital raw materials via Lend Lease:
Germany has got cool designs. Everyone PLUS germany.
yes I know, however I am saving them for another post cause this one was getting long
not to mention at the rate the soviets were losing equipment, it wasnt sustainable if the war kept up, even with all that support.
One could argue the Support was âpivotalâ to getting to the End result
I mean it was dumb attacking Soviets and opening up another front anywayâŚbut yeah
I mean, at this point in war only UK was left on the west and it was besieged on itâs islands. So it was supposed to fall sooner or later.
And russia was proven to be a military dwarf on many occasions (krimean war, russo-jap war, 1ww, polish-bolshevik war, winter war) so attacking it wasnât as stupid as itâs portrayed nowdays.
But you know, admitting germans werenât complete idiots and clowns makes you a werhaboo so we better stop now.
I wasnât meaning it was dumb to attack the Soviets. Just dumb to do it when they hadnât finished off the others. Its not done till its done
Back then, UK was basically considered as âbrits havenât realised theyâve already lostâ. Nowdays we know it wasnât that simple.
I mean itâs not a new notion lol. Itâs littered through history since the dawn of warfare.
finish the job lol. Good old Hubris
Good thing we learn from the past mistakes. Because we do, right?
sad huhâŚbut yeah, of course its easy with Hindsight to say that shit. but yeah. several key mistakes that even without the virtue of hindsight, leaves me thinking wtf
