Modular aircraft carrier destruction system (wip)

sup pipol, I’m here to show you a modular destruction system I’m working on for my Midway map

Some may already know, others may not, but the enlisted aircraft carriers are not a single entity, they are more than 3k, and some of these are not solid, which makes bombs pass through them.


So I thought about how to make something inside that would simulate destruction:

A cement slab on the floor? No, sometimes they went right through the ship model and it looked ugly.

A barrage balloon? No, I still had to change its size, and that made parts go through the ship, but it kept getting destroyed even with machine gun bullets, since the ship is very weak and the ship’s deck has no collision.

So after some testing I found a perfect Ri, it’s rectangular, it’s not destroyed by machine gun bullets, and I can put several or one giant one along the ships.

It can be destroyed with bombs.

It fits perfectly inside the ship.

It’s solid.

It can be hit with bombs from both above and the sides.

So now let’s simulate the modular destruction system:

This is a modular system for the ships where the players will be, but it is almost the same for the aircraft carriers on the map.

There are three hidden modules:

the visual module

the defensive weapons module

and the vital module


visual module:

This module will have little life, when destroyed by a bomb it will generate smoke and fire, in addition to a ship alarm sound effect.

defensive weapons module:


This module will have a half-life, so a few bombs will be needed to destroy it. When destroyed, this module will deactivate all the AI ​​turrets on the ship, causing fire and smoke, leaving the ship protected only by the turrets that the players can control. In addition, each AI turret can be destroyed individually by shooting at them.


The vital module

This module will be the one that needs more bombs to be destroyed, when this happens, it will automatically destroy the battle zone on that ship, preventing players from appearing in it, destroying all turrets, and generating smoke and fire, simulating that this ship is destroyed.

The entire map, with its prefabs, will be released as open source code once the map is finished.
