Mines

but that can be counteracted by whipping out your knife :stuck_out_tongue:

oooh, thanks for the pro tip XD, back to the full tnt inventory

Another stuff that needs to be changed but thats for a different thread

Mines might be decent but only as the maps get bigger, the playable area is too small right now for AT mines to not be annoying

maybe if number of mines would be low (smaller map = less mines)

Problem with that suggestion is that would mean that some people just wouldn’t be allowed to use the mines for their dedicated AT squad, this would be rather frustrating if a function of your squad was made useless through no fault of your own. For this reason the maximum mines on the field would always be at least 10 (one for each squad).

you dont undestand do you? the point of the mines isnt to cover all over, but to cover vulnerable places (good spots for tanks)

Yes and the maps are so small that you could effectively block off the only lanes of access for tanks with a few mines. The ability to have up to 10 mines on maps this small would be really annoying. This is why I’m saying these should only be implemented when the map sizes get bigger.

this is why i say its fine to have 2/3 mines as max, i doubt maps will get bigger soon, and it should be tested anyway

yes, it would be fine for a team as a whole to be able to have 2/3 mines on the field. but a team has 10 player controlled squads. If each player has the ability to control a mine squad, and each squad has one mine that means 10 mines could be on the field, in the games current state tanks usually only have 2 or 3 lanes on each map that they can reliably go down with some open and semi open spaces, meaning that the maps are a bit to tight to allow for mine squads yet.

  1. can you imagine everyone spawning mine soldiers just to block tanks?
  2. can you imagine enemy team just watching how whole other team places mines without shooting at them
  3. can you imagine enemy just leaving mines to rot, until their own tanks get destroyed there?
  1. Yes, why wouldn’t they, especially on invasion if you can prepare a defense by just plopping down an AT mine and forgetting it why wouldn’t you. Its not like AA guns where you have to stay in it to get kills, you can just place it and wait till it does damage.

  2. if mines can be shot by normal bullets then maybe they can be implemented. If they had to be destroyed by explosives or dismantled in a similar way to engineer structures that wouldn’t work.

  3. Yes, thats the point of a mine, leave it to rot until someone rolls over it. Friendly fire on mines would be terrible in enlisted though, someone could grief by putting them in their own spawn, friendlies could destroy your mine netting no kills, you could randomly get hit with a TK because of your teammate not being careful. (There is a reason why Friendly fire got removed from war thunder after all, this isnt like post scriptum or squad where their is a heavy emphasis on communication and realism).

  1. you dont have enough time to place them on very efficient position
  2. ever heard of sappers?
  3. my point was that enemy would mow them away if they were placed on their territory

You have plenty of time if your playing invasion, if you remember where the points are you can place them in anticipation of the next point being taken, I know because i already do this for AA guns if i want to set them up to mow down infantry.

but enemy mows them off from their territory

How does that make the mines less powerfull?

dude, if enemy tanks are blitzing forthand back (i did this with Ba 11 and got insane amount of kills and succesfully moved away) they shuold get broken parts, if they are advancing slowly (therefore vulnerable to flank attacks), their team has time to mow mines off

OK, this might work if you get XP for clearing mines, (after all if you aren’t incentivized to do it a lot of infantry wont care about AT mines) but again, i still think we need more space on the map before mines are implemented. The density of the mines on maps this small would mean that mine clearing would need to be done often. There is a reason why most games with AT mines have much bigger maps as well as not many mine layers (for example, post scriptum and squad have huge maps and a similar limit on the number of tanks, and they only allow for 1 or 2 players to place mines), its because the more dense the placement of mines the more important clearing the mines is, and mine clearing is a task separate from playing the objective and killing enemies

Calling it “sheer luck” is a bit of a stretch. Also, Heroes and Generals WW2 has AT mines, and they are rarely used over AT grenades, because they simply aren’t as effective. If someone uses a mine, they would have to think about where tanks are likely to travel and use them as blockades, preventing a tanker from using main roads. It is the same logic a tanker should use when trying to catch tankers at the start of the game. It would also be nice to add another way of destroying tanks than your one dynamite pack.

the reward for clearing mines is to have alive tank on your side of team
