MGs in a nutshell

14 bullets for one kill on average. A sad joke like this whole game.

But I think this is exactly the role of MG, pour lead to suppress the enemy.
And the squd should carry hundreds of ammo.
But the game just sees it as a big AR.

Except we don’t have any way of suppressing.
There is no suppression mechanic and MGs are too inaccurate to make ppl fear them on their own.

Yes. But devs don’t give two Fs as it seems.

I remember the great light machine gun experience of Battlefield 3. I wish this game had something like that.
Most machine guns in this game are garbage.
BARs and such can be useful, but only if they can be used as ARs. The machine guns that are recommended to be used the way they are supposed to be used, which is on the ground using a bipod, are useless because the bipod is so garbage…
The fact that the only machine guns that can be properly used as machine guns are those that can be crafted by the engineers is very sad.
Devs need to fix basic things like this before adding new content.

why dont you HS on long range with them? i found out that apparently that is their purpose… aim for long range HS on 150 or 250m

HS means?

headshot

Ah ok. Yeah I could have gone for HS then.
I have no idea how I would manage it with a literal barn sized dispersion but that’s clearly a skill issue.

clearly… vickers is basically a sniper, so it is skill issue if you cant do it with MG that is only 10% more inaccurate than vickers…

bipod adds dispersion, this is only possible If you just ADS. He means clearly bipods.

hey, I’m not the one who got shot in the face
personally I just don’t use them because they are only really useful for defending and defending in this game makes me regret existing

No, they are not. They are shit all around (as seen in the attached video).

Effective firing range of mg34/42 = 2000 meters.
Yeah , i am definetly sure that german heer wanted to waste their already scarce resources by designing an mg that cant shoot straight within 50 meter range.

On a tripod though. But technically true.

Use prone
They suprisingly very good at prone rather than bipoded

Sadly grass gets in the way 90% of the time.

This is indeed a sad state of affairs, because the MGs were supposed to be the base of fire for a given squad in any nationality.

I think most FPS games struggled with this to one extent or another.

The fix in Enlisted for this is to effectively program the AI to allow a squad enclosed MG team to function as such. So effectively it requires a rifleman and a machine gunner to be in adjacent slots. The AI then uses them to go prone automatically as your squad goes prone, deploys the bipod and goes to town on players and bots alike within a given arc. In this configuration the rifleman can become the loader and feed the LMGs with either belts or rapid change the magazine without the gunner having to break LOS.

This would mean that players do a short rush, then go prone for 10-20 sec, let the MG fire a few bursts and then repeat, rather than constantly running.

In building rushes the AI should locate itself on the nearest window in the direction that the main player is facing.

They can then add in some more commands that you can leave the squad in place so that you can move the active player in the squad around within a 5m radius without everyone getting up and milling around.

They should then check all the nation squads and remove the 3rd MG unless they historically had one, I think the Italians were the only ones with so many MGs given their massive squad sizes. Everyone else should have one or two at most.
