MGs dont kill in one shot - maybe selectfire rifles shouldn't aswell

Personally I like the battle rifle gameplay of one hit kills/downs, however since MGs are pretty much the same type of weapon just lighter, maybe lowering those rifles damages to just below 13.5 dmg - just like MGs - isnt a terrible idea after all.

Just to clarify, this change would effectively mean, select fire rifles would become “unchanged at mid to long range” while leaving space for SMGs and Assault rifles to be slightly stronger in close range.

Also for those that use select fire rifles at medium range in single fire mide - like myself:

The rifle man role at BR5 could be filled by semi auto rifles that deal the same damage as bolt action rifles.

Imo it’s wild that MGs being dedicated auto fire weapons perform worse than SF auto fire in almost every aspect.
More damage. No movement penalty. Better accuracy. Similar or better recoil…

Well I am one of the few that dares to say Moscow CBT MGs were never OP, it was ONLY bad for realism which made those nerfs justified.

I can get behind that take.

As one of the ppl who asked for those changes, I can say it was a bad idea in the long run.
Devs clearly don’t want to make MGs anywhere close to realistic, they preffer them as heavy ARs. So in the end we are left with still unrealistic MGs but nerfed.

That’s what happens when you believe marketing lies instead of looking at things how they are.

Well, the now rather well working bipods do make them feel much more like MGs tho - its just “maybe” going full realism and removing the ability to ADS completely unless prone or with a placed bipod could work - which could justify buffing MGs again however.

I don’t know, this discussion can be seen from many perspectives, personally I think MGs are in a decent spot now, movement dispersion still makes them suffer when used as an assault rifle, while they shine when actually used as a MG.

Nah, the whole game is tailored torwards run and gun, mounted MGs have no place in this.

Current MGs are fun to play, that’s the most important thing.
Realistic MGs would be extremely boring gameplay wise. Basically just camping all the way.

Imo if you want to play agressively, you shouldn’t take a defensive weapon. Simple as.

It’s like complaining that a heavy bomber is bad at dogfights. Just take a fighter.

I tend to disagree, shredding infantry at 100 meters distance has absolutely its place in this game, even if not on all maps.

Also what do you think about this one? 10 round semis like G43 being moved to BR5 and then dealing bolt action damage? Too controversial?

I want to play a fps game, not simulator. Camping ≠ defensive gameplay.

Realistic MGs would just make the game way more passive.
Everyone can shoot in the direction of the enemy. Without actually caring if he kills them or just stops them from advancing.
I really have no idea what would be fun about that.

Then I guess BF5 is a milisim now.
Because I don’t want nothing more that what BF5 has.

That’s only your opinion as you like agressive gameplay (from what I know).
I like a bit more cautious approach and imo such changes would be nice. I like how BF5 did MGs and I have a lot of fun with them.

BF1 and BF5 literally had the worst gunplay of the series.

BFV also has ridiculous dispersion meta?

Its weird, BF3 is beloved for its gunplay, but equally hated for the suppression mechanics, guess BF3 had non the less perfect MG gunplay.

gotta say…as much as I love the battlefield Series (starting from the OG 1942), BF 5 had the best gunplay.

Up until either BF 1 or BF 5 they still used the shitty random hit patterns so most of your rounds didn’t hit where the crosshair/sights would suggest. BF 5 (or 1) was the first in the series to get rid of this shit.

Was fantastic.

You mean those game got rid of dispersion completely? Aha.

BF4 was my last battlefield and I kept playing BF3 and Bad Company instead after its release.

BF1 was a disgrace, and I doubt BF5 was any different. But to each its own I guess

I played b4 to death…but that gun performance was SOOO bad… unforgivable to someone who grew up “shooting”

This explains why BF1 is the most popular game in the series from what I know
