After the merge a lot of weapons have become not played by many players due unfavourable BR, it’s time to give MG42 a new life.
Right now it has to compete against MG34 Patronentrommel of BR4 and also MG42 100 of BR5 which it instantly loses as just mere 110 increase in rof it not helpful and actually hurting the weapon t hat gets worse dispersion and longer reload time than MG34.
It’s time to downtier it to BR3 as it’s almost identical and actually inferior to MG34 and that rof is only useful while using wonky bipod.
Right now you can’t even use it in Tunisia as it’s too high of BR, Tiger H1 also is a big loser and forced to move from that historical period where it was used in small numbers.

As for the suggestion, honestly seems fine to me, I prefer the MG34 already regardless, and its a nice option for people. Not to mention, as you said, it would be nice to see in the likes of Tunisia.
It’s certainly BR3 material but I don’t know if it wouldn’t be better to simply buff it instead of moving. Problem is, I have no idea what buffs would make it worthy of BR4.
Alternatively, move it to BR3 but give it 1200rof. Current rof is a downside while not being iconic. So make it iconic, give it “fun factor” so ppl can choose it for memes despite being inferior.
Nothing to do with rpm or damage. Soft stat buffs. Reload should ideally be faster than the MG 34 (4.5 seconds or so compared to it’s 5.8 currently).
Dispersion could be decreased to 0.35, and maybe ADS increased to 0.25 and sprint factor changed to 60%. It doesn’t have to be all of these at the same time, but I was just brainstorming what could be done.

and a single event squad is comparable to a German tech tree weapon
I know soviet-focussed mind struggles to understand this but there is a concept of “excessive rate of fire”. And this is such case.
Personally I’d say that everything above 900rof is excessive for LMGs. About 700-800rpm is the sweetspot.
I’d even say it’s too much.
But I still want it to have 1200 rpm because that’s what was used in the war and that’s why this gun is so infamous. Even if this makes the gun overall worse, at least it will be iconic and fun (for ppl like me who like it’s legend).
Well, that’s nonsense. Are you suggesting that Madsen compete with MG42? Well, let’s say they move MG42. Then you’ll win by writing a thread about “Everyone forgot about MG34, move it to BR2”? Maybe give the Germans a G36c, a captured Javelin, an ATGM, and a “win” button?
i hope so, i would really like to play with the mg42 early en moscow, i use the mg42 because it is cool but always i use it in br V because it is my only option
