Proper machine guns should be unable to ADS while you’re standing. Switching them to the Flamethrower “tightening” mechanic when you hold RMB to kinda tighten up the dispersion cone for hipfire at the cost of mobility would be more realistic and engaging than the spastic swinging around trying to tap fire people.
Crouching and crawling should be able to ADS properly of course.
Things like the BAR or FG-42 would be exempt obviously since they’re more IARs than true MGs like the Maschinengewehrs, DP, or Madsen.
I think it would be a nice change and make the machine gun class more realistic.
I just go prone a lot when using the Breda MGs, to make the recoil easier to control .

not very realistic at all to be diving like it’s a Max Payne game constantly, but it’s better than nothing. Sometimes I also crouch but it’s almost as bad as standing
How are germans supposed to win if their MG-34 and MG-42 laser accuracy crutches are taken away along with that +150% pose change perk.

I know for some reason so many people hate HLL here but I always really like that ADS for an MG in that game had you brace with the bipods and slowed you to a walking speed.
It should also depend upon whether the MG could reasonably be fired from the shoulder. The BAR would be useless if you couldn’t ADS for example.
I agree there are 90% of soldiers would not be able to accurately fire an MG with ADS but on some occasions you have animals that can do that even today with the heavier FN MAG.
what i suggest is make it unable to ADS with MGs but if you level up an mg gunner you can have a 16/16 perk that will let you ADS for 4 seconds (like hold breath and when stamina is up you can do it again)

I’d also add that reloading a belt/pan fed machine gun while running is a bit odd as well.
Less important, but if it forced you to crouch (or stay crouched/proned) to reload and stand still would enforce the stationary playstyle. Same as in RO2, and there you don’t have people running around with MGs (usually).
Or at least not while sprinting, if anything.
Belts are hard enough to reload standing still irl, yeah.
Also as a related side note not restricted to LMGs, you shouldn’t be able to skip through the reload animation on an empty weapon if you’re required to pull a charging handle.
The Auto 5 was the biggest offender of impossible reloads though, and it’s been removed.

I would like to see that but the game is wayyyyyyy too fast and too CQC to do that. We need other changes before.
The main issue is that currently bracing sucks so nobody wants to use MGs that way.

Yes but I don’t think that will help. Even the best mounting mechanic possible won’t the change fact that the game is fast CQC gun and gun experience. And stationary or slow to use weapons just don’t fit it in the current state.
