The MG change in Stalingrad makes machineguns too unwieldy to use in the fast pace of combat. The stamina drain is still extreme and unrealistic, and the recoil even with recoil control perks is simply too random to have any fun , not to mention the bugged Axis MG recoil. The change, done to promote the mounting system which still does not work with any amount of regularity, makes using these weapons more of a chore than anything fun or engaging. Stamina drain is already enough for those who sprint around, and only serves to promote a campy style of play which does not fit with the aggressive, fast pace that is rewarded in this game.
If this change comes to other campaigns, then the entire line of machineguns will drop in usage across the board. Not to mention, all the MG Premium squads out there and the players that shelled out money for them will be very upset, especially those who bought the new Colt Monitors only to have them nerfed into the ground a short while later.
totally agree, this mechanic should be exclusive to stalingrad if not straight up removed from the game. I own many mg premium squads and thats literally gonna make me stop from using them or buying more of them. its a bad mechanic and shouldnt be implemented any further.
Ps: thats not how Mgs work, ive been in the military and carried heavier stuff than mg34s and i didnt die after 5 seconds
Agree the MG have been nerfed already many times, you can’t even hit someone in front of you while moving wich is literally dumb and now the recoil is even worse (the stamina is still manageable since the latest “buff”).
If at least the bipod was working properly it would be okish but it still bugged as fuck since the release of the game and the angle are so dumb limited.
What can I say more than the developers don’t even play their own game to make shitty things like that?
Angle limitation is not even that bad, even though it could use more vertical tolerance. What’s really bad is the constant pixel hunting required to find a spot that allows deployment.
I honestly enjoy the new machanic since the intention is to make assaulters the run and gun class
The big issue however is that the tool to manage the penalty, mounting, barely works unless on perfect flat surface and even then will sometimes not give an option to do so.
They fix that and everything else will fall in line.
I don’t mind how LMGs handle, what does bug me is the inability to get the bipod set up on almost anything first time with any efficiency.
I’m constantly maneuvering to find the sweet spot where I’m “allowed” to mount despite being directly infront of a bit of scenery that is ideal for mounting.
when I apply first aid bandages I don’t have to loosen all my clothing, apply morhine, clear the blood away to find a wound then apply a gauze, then bandage/tourniquet etc, I simply press a key and the game does it.
Guys serious question, is the stamina drain in Stalingrad still a thing for you? For me since this update Update 0.3.0.157 (Server Update - Xbox, PlayStation®) - News - Enlisted, where stamina use for MGs was reduced, I can hold aim while standing infinitely, no stamina drain at all (was using stamina before), it is only working for AT weapons (PTRS / GrB-39). Can be a bug for me if you guys still have stamina drain working for MGs, but I must be sure about it first before I make a bug report.
I’ve not tested in all situations but stamina drain affected me in stalingrad yesterday. can’t remember what I was doing but it was there and I ran out of it.
Its still buggy, and needs to be properly looked at.
There is a variable between the MG squad, and Machine gunners in the other squads.
It seems an overkill to begin with as per OPs post.
There appears to be a level of oversimplistic ham handed craftwork to ensure that the tempo of the game does not bog down too realistically. Hence the ubiquitous handouts of the vehicle removal kits (Detpacks) and the nerfing of anything that will interfere with run and gun playstyle inherited from all the other common sense/historically challenged FPS.
Yeah there’s nothing better than having a guy on Moscow with the MG34 75 round drum squad running around like it’s Call of Duty hipfiring and killing everyone easily making it to the top of the scoreboard not even trying to use the bipod
They need to fix bipods so you don’t have to find the tiny 1 inch window of opportunity to deploy it, then it will be fine. LMGs used to handle more like SMGs before.
That’s okay, I’ll just use SMGs,kill you and win, and forget completely about mgs forever again. See how pointless it is?
It’s completely unfun, useless mechanic
then whats the point of having mgs if they are completely negligible? dont you see how useless and unnecessary this change is? it doesnt solve a problem, it doesnt even alleviate it. good players will find a way to play this game well (or call of duty like, idk where the f you got that from, im not even gonna comment on that), and they will always find a way to play obnoxiously, i know it because I DO THAT.
Its unnecessary, completely unnecessary. Also please consider what i said above, carrying an mg isnt really that hard for a regular soldier.
No, when I use MGs I try to actually use the bipod, I only hipfire them on rare occasions or if my AI do it, or if I’m shooting at a plane. All they have to do is fix the bipod system. They are very good if you put some thought into it and set it up in a good position. I really don’t mind at all if they become hard to use playing as Rambo. If “good players” want to use an MG properly and kill everyone with it that would make more sense than what we have now. I get killed all the time by things that don’t bother me because they make sense, like SMGs at close range.
Or you can make a separate button which “deploys” the MG while standing and reduces your speed to walking pace like RO2 does or even stationary in order to fire it without the bipod.
