As far as i can see the stats of MG 34 and MG 42 are almost the same, but MG 42 having a longer reload time. Why should i buy and replace my MG 34 with MG 42?
Did i miss anything?

It has lower horizontal recoil and also faster fire rate
also better sight. (although it depends on your preferences in which you prefer)
Mg 42 is the best gun it can one shot enemies at any range ! hugely better than mg 34 try it see for yourself !
Meh MG42 goes Brrrrrt Empty Reload, i think MG34 is more Usefull…

for me the mg34 is fine, the mg42 is slightly better but not enough to make me spend time on upgrading them all over again.
the major benefit of the mg42 is that the sight its much much more open in comparison to the mg34 (personally i like the mg34 sight more tho)
There is no real reason to grind and upgrade MG42. This gun needs some love as almost in everything it’s worse or equal to MG34, except sights (although MG34’s sights aren’t bad either).

Model of the gun is bad at best. It wasn’t changed since the very early stages of game development (as it was one of the very first weapons) and is pixelated and generally ugly.

Control of the gun (recoil) is comparable to MG34 I’d say. Actually MG42 may have slightly more recoil, at least that’s what my quick tests tell.

Accuracy:
MG42 on the left. MG34 on the right. 11 single shots each. -
Sights are better than MG34 ones. But Enlisted has the best MG34 sights I’ve ever seen in a video game so imo you can get used to them quite easily.

Rate of fire. The selling point of MG42, shame that it’s a joke. MG42 has higher rof than MG34, but it’s not as high as it should be in reality (most sources say about 1200 rpm).
So it’s rof is a waste of bullets and it’s not historical either. Only downsides, exactly 0 positives.

If you play Normandy, it’s locked behind Gunner II squad. Grinding squad upgrades only to play with MG42 is a waste of time.
Over all, not recomended. Play with MG34, especially with patronentrommel (75 round version) as it seems to be the best MG in game right now (I don’t have it yet so my opinion is based on stats).
Although to be fair, during battle MG42 feels more powerfull for some reaon. Maybe it’s because the Power of the Reich is flowing through your veins or something.

I still use my MG34s regularly, only a few of my squads have an MG34. I find its recoil predictable and more controllable due to the lower rate of fire.
I also love its sights.

I tried to compare them in practice mode, but unfortunately i cant find the MG 34… so i just stick with MG 34 and save my orders. 
there isn’t an mg34 in practice mode, only the mg42 for some reason.

The MG42 inspire fear in the heart of your ennemies since it means you are at least lvl25 and already have squad full of FG42. But also, there is a strong possibility you have a mighty Panther since you are closer to the lvl 31.
The MG34 is only lvl 19 so they may still have hope.
Pro tips: Put a MG34 in your squad and fire the full 50 cartrige at the beginning of the match.
Once the hope fill their heart after they realise it’s just a MG34 , just fire a full magazin with the MG42 in the air to assert dominance. Then watch them stop playing as they start to write a rage post or take time to reconsider their campain choice.
