I have concerns about multiple menu design decisions I’ve encountered so far
I’m at campaign level 8 and I’m already frustrated at numerous aspects of these menus:
—-
- Unable to view inventories or anything regarding soldiers in reserved squads.
If I want to make sure I emptied their inventories, I have to drag them and replace an active squad, go back to the main menu, then go into a separate screen to empty them, then reserve this process.
It gets worse if you want to transfer soldiers between squads because due to the required minimum number of soldiers in a squad, it’s very finicky to transfer troops.
I suggest adding a soldier-level view to the manage squads screen so that you can move troops between troops much easier.
As a side note, why do reserve squads even have to have soldiers in them?

- No second screen (conformational or informative) when clicking on deliveries and reinforcements
When I first started I accident bought a couple of things I didn’t need because I assumed there would be more information about what I would be buying. Obviously it makes sense now but I guarantee lots of new players will do this.
Another reason why an informative second screen would be helpful is that it’s unclear without outside resources what some equipment does, or how good a weapon is. Things like “backpack” or “tools” mean nothing to new players without outside resources and there’s nowhere in the game where you can preview these kinds of things. For weapons, preview of its stats would be helpful as well. Lastly, for parts it is also frustrating because it doesn’t even tell you how many parts you will receive AFAIK.
There’s a reason every game has confirmation screens surrounding my anything to do with purchase whether they’re made with real money or not.

- Academy does not display which squads soldiers are from
Self explanatory, this would be more and more helpful the more full your squads and reserves get.
Also, it would be nice if the academy automatically emptied inventory’s before the training process is completed to free up supplies more easily.

- Lockout of optional squad roles after purchasing them FOREVER with no option to change it (despite never telling new players what some roles do even though they’re included in the first couple of squads).
This honestly seems like an oversight rather than a deliberate decision. It’s so easy when you’re first starting out to have preconceived ideas on what roles like engineers, bombers, radio men, etc. contain. If you find out that upgrade you selected doesn’t actually fit with what you want your squad to do? Too bad. You can’t even pay to change it AFAIK.
Interestingly, one of the only confirmation prompts in the entire game’s menus is present here, so that’s kind of a plus…?
Anyway, these are my main bit of feedback about anything regarding menus so far.
