"Melee" slot changed to "tool" slot, reworks and additions

With other options than just knives, this could become more of a “tool” slot. While knives and swords and such remain for melee usage there are also shovels, axes, and room for other tools as well.

First off, reworks that I would like to see (and that have been noted by other forum members on other posts):

  • Shovel, while using the “fire” button (LMB or RT standard depending on system) digs like it does currently, an “alternative fire” button should be added as well that acts as a modifier (RMB or LT depending on system/ the “aim” button). This modifier would let you FILL holes back to the normal terrain depth, or with raise the ground if it were previously flat.
This makes it easier to level out ground as well as heighten the edges of the trench to give you a bit more cover.

  • Axe, while using the “fire” button (same as noted above), swings the axe and lets you do damage to enemies, or holding it to do a charge, same as it is now, you can also use the “alternative fire” mode, which will let you break certain environmental pieces. Such as trees and crates.

New additions

  • Fire extinguisher, using the “fire” button by itself would swing it in front of you to act as a “melee” weapon, while using the “aim/ alternative fire mode” would let you aim and spray it in order to put out fires and also make use of the new update they did regarding being soaked in water (makes you immune to fire for 30 seconds).

  • Wire cutters, using the “fire” button would let you swing them in front of you to do “melee” damage, though that damage would be quite low. Using the “aim/ alternative fire mode” would let you clip wire significantly faster. In the hands of an engineer, it would be nearly instant.
(Please Note that with this suggestion, I still think that the ability to outright “deconstruct” fortifications with all character types needs to be removed. Special tools such as wire cutters could be implemented for better balance.)

your suggestions are sound and I do like them, shame devs will probably never or think of this.

@Chickydoodles I’m curious for your input on this topic.

Before playing Enlisted I used to play H&G, it was developed by a small company called reto-moto. Anyway, they didn’t listen to the community and that’s what I’m used to.

Would be nice if devs actually read this though.

Nice idea tho :+1:
