Meaning of symbols painted on buildings

In the Normandy Campaign, buildings sometimes have these symbols painted on them. I would like to know what this means.
I searched Google thinking it was something like FEMA markings, but did not get any good information.
Does anyone know what this symbol means?

Thanks for the answer.
I see, so it could be a symbol of the resistance.
I was aware of the Lorraine Cross, but I had never seen the symbol in top image before.
The symbol on the far left looks like an upside down version of the Polish Underground Resistance’s symbol. (Which is odd that it is in France).

The cross markings on buildings mean that these buildings already have been searched for casualties/corpses.
This was also common after carpet bombings on cities within ww2.

Thanks for letting me know.
Very interesting information.

Right!

And that X is a Holder of a crossbar that was attached later. At older Houses. Nice Detail in the Game by the Way.

I see, so the S-shaped mark is not painted, but a shelf for attaching ornaments.
I had never actually seen a building like this before, so I had no idea.

I have to tell you all something.
When I woke up this morning, I noticed that my glasses, which I had left under my pillow, were missing. It seems that my cat Louie, who loves to play tricks, had hidden them. My terrible nearsightedness made it impossible for me to find them, so I had no choice but to spend the day without them. Now I finally found the glasses in Louie’s toilet. So I put on my glasses and decided to go to the Normandy Campaign again and look around the houses.
When I looked at “it” up close, it was obvious that it was a metal fixture…

So he was right, and my idea that there was some symbol on it was all a misunderstanding.
Sorry for the silly thread… But it was a good learning experience to know about old western houses. It was also a benefit to know that after the bombing, when they searched for bodies, they would mark the house and that the French resistance had several symbols.
Thanks for all the insight you all have given me!!!
