The Matilda really needs a buff to the speed. Should be at least 35km. It is just about unplayable as it is. You spawn so far away by the time you get to the battle it has moved and no, the extra armor is hardly noticable as a help to not being destroyed. It seems to be no problem. This has been a complete disapiontment for me. The regular tanks are far and away better.
That’s predominately because of explosive packs, which basically ignore armor. As long as you land it on the vents, or underneath, it kills. That’s why I usually go for tanks with lighter armor and more mobility.
I WISH this wasn’t the case, but as long as explosive packs exist, tank gameplay is going to be crap.
Rather - as long as people like you will ruin it with their dumb ideas.
Explosives packs were always a standard weapon the infantry had against the tanks, what is your problem with that ?
And - in other games (“hell let loose”) playing tanks is almost impossible with every other soldier running with a satchel charge.
Lol, the top speed of that tank in real life is only 24km/h.
With the merge it will be the best Allied tank to fight against the Japanese. Yeah it sucks in Tunisia since objectives are so far away, but with Paci you can see multiple objectives at same time as long as you have the high ground.
Oh god, nothing will be able to pen you if you are playing the Matilda in the Pacific. The gun sucks but is good enough aginst the Japanese armor.
I propose a correction - as long as they remain as destructive as they are now.
I am not against them per se - they should be a useful option in disabling and immobilizing a tank, maybe blowing up a lowly tankette (but nothing more powerful than a light or medium tank) - but the actual damage dealers and destroyers should be more dedicated explosives and weapons, like TNT charges and AT guns.
Precisely. The three biggest issues that I have with them are:
-
They are useful against both tanks and infantry, which if you’ve ever noticed, AT launchers often DIRECT HIT soldiers and fail to kill. Yet this grenade has almost as much AP capability as a frag grenade AND can kill tanks?
-
Throw distance. You can throw these things considerably far, especially if you have the grenade throw distance perk. The next closest thing to that much power that every infantry can use is TNT mines, and it requires placement, can’t be thrown, requires manual detonation rather than a timer.
-
It completely kills tanks. You more often than not (in my experience) kill tanks outright rather than damaging them. I could understand something that disables tank tracks, barrels, etc being wielded by common troops, but to give the AT power to any and all is gamebreaking.
That’s predominately why the Matilda suffers like it does. Against proper AT equipment and their drawbacks, it performs decently. However, against explosive packs its severely outmatched.
