Can we hope for changes to the matchmaking in the near’ish future? And hopefully before “soon™”.
It happens far too often, in my experience, that you get games in teams with 4-5 privates using bolt actions, with no research/weapons/classes unlocked and clearly no experience of the game VS 3-5 Marshals/high ranked sweaties, with full 5 squads of BR2 geared Assaulters, and tbh it is absolutly horrible.
Surely there has to be a more sensible matchmaking, and not just the BR condition?
Surely stats/experience/gear worn etc. needs to be considered (more)?
Surely the current state is not acceptable, just to reduce the waiting time beween fights slightly?
Battlepass ranking has little to no bearing on skill. A team of NCOs (silver rank) can kerbstomp a team of Officers (gold rank) if they play effectively together.
What you mean is BR. These are tied to weapons. The following should help:
I understand that rank isn’t a marker for skill in itself.
When I refer to the rank, my point is that it’s a player who has both a level of experience and access to weapons that are vastly superior to the new players with near zero experience and/or a player in a new research tree who both will have vastly inferior gear.
Putting new players with low BR1 gear and no experience up against experienced players with the top of what BR2 (or even BR3) has to offer, AND not only that, but putting several of these ubergeared players ONLY on one side of the fight, simply makes for a game that has zero entertainment value and that many wont bother playing, but will simply uninstall.
…and as such, a game that imo could do with improvements to the matchmaking.
It’s more to do with player count. The larger the playerbase grows, there will be more incentive for the devs to update the current matchmaking system.
As far as I know (which is very little), there are no changes to the current system planned.
Also, it doesn’t take much experience to earn enough silver to improve BRI weapons to make them more effective, or earn XP for your soldiers so they can be upgraded. And Assaulter and Machine Gunner squads are fairly easy to unlock, giving you access to SMGs and MGs.
Remember, it’s a F2P game, so the grind is inevitable. And the grind has been improved ten-fold since the recent economy update. Keep persevering!
I dont mind the grind at all. I actually dont mind loosing either, as long as the fights are good.
I would just personally prefer a matchmaking that had me waiting a little bit longer between games (or gave me a notice that the playercount was low and suggested that I picked another faction), rather than being stomped with low BR1 squads by 4-5 players with full BR3 Assaulters on a far too regular basis.
Cheers for your input though.
I will keep persevering - for a while yet at least
Bolt Actions vs “ever so slightly better Bolt Actions” and a couple SMG’s you can start bee lining down right off the rip and LMG’s you can gain access to very quickly
What’s the issue here? Expect to be given belt feds upon install?
Actually, I’ve been quite vocal about the following changes:
BRI-II
BRIII-IV
BRV
Some players would like to see 0 +/- on BR, so each BR would only face the same, but that probably would need much higher player numbers than we currently have to avoid complete botmatches.
I think my above proposal would work pretty well for now, especially with the influx of Steam players. But it’s up to the devs ultimately. After all, they have all the player data.
Idk if you are already but upgrading weapons (very affordable early on) and optimizing perks lets you do very well even with BR I gear. With that, playing aggressively, pushing the objective, plus building rallies, you can do extremely well with just bolt actions. Even against BR I.
Quite simply, NO, I am quite sure we won’t see any match making changes in my lifetime. People have been complaining on a daily basis about it since the Berlin wall came crashing down, and nothing ever changes. If DF had plans on fixing it, they would have done it by now.
One would think that with the constant daily barrage of complaints about match making DF would have made it a priority to try and fix, but instead they make some token effort months and months back which turned out to be nothing more then just lip service instead of an actual attempt to fix. Granted, they can’t fix shitty teammates, however, they can make it so that no one is uptiered more then one level, but they don’t. If they fixed the actual match making, then we can no longer bitch about crappy match making, just about crappy teammates which there is no cure for.
