Maps are already mixed bags - not exactly their design, map makers do great job, but in way objectives, spawn points and greyzones are placed.
Some maps have barely 10m behind objective before they reach greyzone for attackers - means less space for them to drop beghind defenders.
Some have greyzone that streches so far paratroopers can land and make rallies way behind enemy lines.
Either paras need some major rework, or map greyzones get more balanced (defenders don’t even see enemy greyzone border, so can’t predict where paras drop unless they memorize each maps greyzone).
Also on point of map balance - spawn points are all over the place - ranging from 60m spawns that make defending a breeze, to 200m spawns that make you want to quit that match.
yeah they need to prevent paras for being able to chain capturee points after their side got the point
like preventing them paratrooping in the new area till the spamw point move
Looks like Berlin rooftops will finally get fixed because now paras will land there and clip through missing hitboxes.
I just want use that momentum to make all maps ready for paras - dropping 100 m behind some objectives give little room for defenders to even make rallies - attacking side suddenly has big boost
My concern is opposite; paras will be easy xp in some maps and borderline useless.
Berlin or stalingrad urban maps for eg.
One wrong clikc and you are on the top of an apartment and cant get down
Or dense and narrow maps in berlin; you think you have flanked enemy but ended up sorrounded by enemy squads just 15 meter away from cap point.
Moscow maps will be nightmare for paras altoughy they are open.
They must widen the playable areas in maps.
*The NUMBER 1 thing they need to change about paratroopers is to remove their ability to build rally points.*
The “Special ability” of Paratroopers is that they can drop in pretty much anywhere on the map, PLUS have an equipment box that lets them diversify for the situation.
So why is it that they are deemed to need the ability to build a rally point? THEY are the ones that are supposed to be attacking the enemy from behind, NOT the ones that magically spawn in.
If that were to be fixed, it solve the issue of paratroopers being OP entirely.
While the maps could use a rework, that comes down to more than just paratrooper abuse.
That said, a lot of it could still be remedied by removing their ability to build rally points. After all, its one thing to deal with a paratrooper squad popping in from behind enemy lines, but it becomes an entirely different issue when over half the enemy team is spawning in from BEHIND ENEMY LINES, and both due to map design and lack of ability to fortify in a meaningful way, defenders now have to fight attackers that are essentially coming from the wrong side.
By all means, if a normal engineer from any other squad sneaks his way around and puts down a rally behind enemy lines, that’s fine, but that takes time and effort to do. With Paratroopers, it does NOT.
I have a better suggestion; switch the roles.
If para troops deploy as normal infantry give them an engineer.
If dropped, dont .
Also able to see enemy drop plane on map is better.
Paras dont always drop, they also fought as elite ground troops.
101st airborne wasnt dropped to bastogne, they were sent by trucks due to bad weather conditions and fought as infantry division.
Famous falschirmjagers at monte cassino werent dropped or glided to the mountain either
