How about this, my preferences are best as I can, all likes on Tunisia, dislikes where possible on Pacific.
I had a near full Italian line up for BR2, Italian assaulters, radio, riflemen, APC 251 altered to Italian nationality, Breda bomber.
Played Axis early morning, afternoon, evening, not a single game of Tunisia, just Moscow Moscow Moscow!
I would like Devs to confirm if vehicle choice influences map choice, or what makes it more likely to get Tunisia or Normandy
My findings were on EU Server, Solo, Axis only, BR2, be good to know other people’s experiences with pref maps, please state faction, time of day, server and if you can say what you wanted to play ie like and dislikes.
So far in my case, I would say NO, the map preferences don’t work since I have, on multiple occasions had to play maps that I have given thumbs down to, and I have hardly got to play game modes that I have given thumbs up for. I personally like Conquest and Confrontation and gave them a fair share of my thumbs up, and hate with a passion Assault, and so far 80% of my games have been invasion. However, so far, I have only got Assault once, so one good thing, and this is on about a 20-25 game sample size.
This made me think of an old song called Moskau by a German band, where the chorus goes “Moskau Moskau” something or rather (it’s in German).
I’ve actually found using very little or no likes / dislikes actually works way better. Dunno why. Maybe because so many people disliked certain maps there’s no longer any playerbase to play on them.
No. They should ditch it for actual map filters. Recent update is just watered-down suggestions. And the map filters was the best out of the random lot.
I honestly still get queued mostly against soviets despite having disliked almost every eastern front map possible, and like most normandy ones, I don’t think it is doing anything to be honest, I still rarely get to play normandy, I would say, maybe a 15% more normandy maps than before, which is not a really big deal since It was like maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10 matches.
It may be because majority of ppl gave likes to Moscow and dislikes to Tunisia (you can see this general preference when reading the forum). So the MM forced you to comply with majority despite your personal preference settings.
At least that’s what I think might’ve happened. This is pure speculation though.
Thanks for responses, be helpful if people could summarize, and state server, faction and TOD
It is not going to work when in a group, leader will override your prefs. Also won’t work if Any faction, as too many options.
I’m interested in knowing where you play solo, one faction, played about 10 games. Also what gives me an indication it’s not working is how quickly I find a match too.
No, not at all… Its a pseudo PR feature (hey we are doing stuff!) Playing on EU with “join any army” and it puts me reguarly on maps i clearly downvoted (like everyones favourite map Gavutu) with a queue time below 5-10 secs… Whats the point of “a feature” that not even trying to take its time to put me into a match following my “preferred settings”…
In the past two days I didnt get a single map I have liked.
I would like to point out that I had a bunch of boosters active (cashed in prev BP) so match making most likely on purpose gave me my most hated maps and game modes.
True. I guess this makes my theory false.
Or… average enlisted player is too smooth brain to use this feature so big chunk of players have everything labeled as neutral. But imo that’s too extreme assumption even for this community.
Ok, an update from my side, BR2 axis is no hope, despite liking Tunisia got Moscow, even Normandy and Ardennes as low BR, when I decided to up a BR to BR3 this afternoon, I got Tunisia 3 times.
Pref maps must work on majority popularity of votes somehow, but will try BR3 again tomorrow, early am see how I get on.
“Oh look! Here is a button I have never seen before! I wonder what does it do? I better not use it or look for any info about it, just in case.”
And then ppl get worried about being replaced by AI ffs. At least it learns.
