Manual bolt movement

It wont hamper you if you reload instantly, + most of the time you are facing AI.

Also, what bullet type you are using + what kind of powder load. But I doubt the game will ever go to that kind of length in realism.

It is very absurd, tbh. if they went with realistic approach, all of the semi-autos would have pretty much same wounding capability as their bolt action friends but with higher rate of fire and less recoil, though less accurate at range.

tbh this is more focused on snipers, as I more often use bolts in sniping capacity be it scoped or not than in direct close combat, SMG and semi autos for that. In sniping I could more easily track my target when I could choose when to reload and not have the game do it for me.

You are right that this is has low amount of support, thought tbh, this has more support than prolly half the suggestions here. Its still a feature id like to see.

Reloading instantly can not be done. There will always be input lag. The AI will improve over time and hopefully be as good as a real, though perhaps a bit newbish player.

Bullet type is not in the question. With an identical bullet, the carbine would do less damage due to having a lower velocity due to having a shorter barrel.

The later semi-autos recently got their damage also halted, as that was apperantly an oversight by the devs. Not that it matters much as they can’t be unlocked anyways.

If you want to track better, simply hold that left mouse button to not operate the bolt.

Its extremely tiny, pretty much not noticeable. Its still an optional feature tho.

Well not really, it depends on the range. At close range, a carbine is preferable, its less likely to be an passthrough shot compared to an full size rifle, in a passthrough shot, the bullet does not expend all of its energy into the target while the one that does not go through the target does. But more important is the cavity it creates inside the body. which leads to the question of bullet type.

That hampers mobility.

Huh, didn’t realize that worked that way. Hold shoot, won’t cycle a botl gun. Looks like this option is hard baked into the game mechanics.

In what way? how does this implementation of your desired optional function hamper mobility more than an additional press hampers fast-pacced gameplay?

Honestly, if this is gonna be a thing that’s in game, the current implementation feels like the best of both worlds compromise that might be the only way you get it.

He says he is using the bolt action to snipe and he needs this feature to help track targets, but complains about it blocking mobility, which is a non-issue for snipers. So idk what he wants at this point

Why do you assume a sniper has to camp constantly?
Especially when the enemy can see where you are with the hand holding the game gives you need mobility to evade enemies and form time to time you need to change to different equipment in order to be more effective in cqc, which you cannot do when cycling bolt. And as you two have implied, speed is needed in this fast paced game. So forcing auto reload only takes away valuable time from counter action.

You can swap weapons midway of a reload/cycle animation, so that’s a non-issue.

nope, you cant swap it while cycling. Only while reloading magazine.

From now on, ill be mainly ignoring this post. If someone has criticism or does not want to see this feature ingame, feel free to post about it but dont expect any debates about it, all my reasoning as to why this should be added are posted already, in my opinion this should be added, but everyone has their own opinion, tho in the end ONLY the devs get to choose what is added and what is not. GG

i honestly this should be added.

the valid point of people that are arguing about, and i saw, are the low rate of fire that this could become,
but if it’s optional, i still don’t see where is the problem. it’s literally not that huge work.

otherwise, i prefer watch if i got the target, or where the bullets land. so i can shoot more precisely my next bullet.

I wish them to add this feature and dont make it optional …in it of battle whether you placed the round will decide your fate!

I agree. If you add this feature, it should not be optional.
