So, let us use the bolt manually. Like after shooting a bolt action gun, press R to load a new cartridge from the magazine into the chamber instead of it being automatic, now this should be an option in settings. This could be same for tanks, and everything that requires a manual reload.
Now there is a problem, if you want to reload the mag when you still have cartridges in the magazine, but this could be solved by just making the magazine reload be hold R, and tap R be the manual bolt racking.

You are some what describing how bolt action rifles perform in the ww2 fps “Post Scriptum”. In that game you fire the rifle with mouse button 1 and hit the mouse button 1 again to work the bolt. You can get excited and forget to work the bolt after a shot, leaving you without a round in the chamber. This add emersion to the game and I expected something like this in enlisted. Not a bad suggestion.
oh yeah, forgor post scriptum had that.
this idea came to me from the arma 3 RHS mod
why would you manually want to operate the bolt? It would only slow your rate of fire
Trust me IRL its sorta hard to forget to pull the bolt when shooting. Also adding a button requirement would be rather annoying and would be a nerf to bolt action rifles by reducing fire rate.
not rly a nerf when it would be optional.
but why put in the time to code it?
why not? Its a good addition for people who like more control.
It really does not take long time to make, “time to code” would be more of a lazy excuse not to add it.
Its a very simple addition.
actually it requires a bunch of steps to implement (add option to menu, add variables to store the setting, write the code to handle it) and it would ever so slightly reduce performance because of an additional overhead variable (whether you turned it on/off)
I’d say it would be 1-3 hours of work, depending on how complicated dagor engine is and all it would do is lower the rate of fire, aka handicapping, the people that enable it

if that actually reduces someones performance by any noticeable amount, than they have some stoneage pc and have 1-2 FPS in the first place. Flamethrowers were added and they are 1000000 times more demanding than a simple manual bolt action, yet they dont affect ones performance at all.
Its still an optional feature, would be a good one at that. If someone is worried that they cant get that 1 shot into a time window which they could with auto reload (handicapping is a bit reaching), than simply dont have the option turned on. Still a good feature for people who want more control. Its exactly like having hold to crouch and toggle crouch options, no reason not to have it. If you are worried about forgetting to hold the button or dont have the strength to than have toggle crouch instead of hold to crouch.
Kinda nitpicky points tbh. 1. wont affect anyones performance in any noticeable way, 2. its an optional feature.
I simply don’t see why the devs should waste time coding something very few people would ever use when they could spend that time improving the game.
the point there isnt that it affects performance directly, but if features like this keep on stacking up, then there will be a noticable diffrence. It simply makes more sense to put development effort elsewhere.
Eh, going with this mindset, we wont get anything good for smaller portions of the community.
again, if we go with this mindset there will be barely any quality of life improvements for smaller portions of the players. The game will be optimized more and more as time goes on, they will be adding more stuff that increases pc load, but they will keep optimizing the game, manual bolt action is pretty insignificant load requirement in the grand scheme of things.
Why focus on what 1% of the community wants with small super technical things (that aren’t paid cosmetics or another source of income) only that small group would use and not what the overall playerbase wants which is a game that needs to be more polished, balanced, and have more content?
You are acting as if this would demand large part of their dev team, which this wont. Can you point out how feature like this being developed in the background will affect the polishing of this game?
Why shouldnt small part of the community get things that they want too ?
I really don’t think you realize how small of a dev team this is. Its a waste of the dev teams time and money to have someone work on the code for multiple hours for something people aren’t going to use. As I’ve repeatedly stated, you don’t waste time on a feature like this when you have so many other MAJOR issues to fix first.
The dev team is working on two games rn, Enlisted and Cuisine Royale, they are constantly adding content for both games. A tiny feature like manual bolt action wont take their time.
Now, how do you know what the people will and will not use? Are you the community ? no ?
4 people are already supporting this.
Can you point out where I said this needs to be added now ???
You still keep acting as if this feature being developed will somehow stop the dev team from fixing issues, regardless of whether you like this suggestion or not, it wont affect it in any noticeable way.
it’s 1-3 hours of work if nothing buggy happens with it, could be 10+ hours if it bugs out everything. You’d be surprised how much balancing work etc can be done in that time.
