Making victories important

Xp gain based on killings. Even if you are on losing side when you gain more then 5000-6000 lets say, you gain good progress points anyway. This is why counless of players left the match in middle of game when they gained high xp.
Humans are inherintly selfish and ambitious creatures so devs should use it to drive them to teamplay.
Playing good on solo is one thing but if you cant play as team you will probably lose.
If game increases the points of all victorious side’s player points at the end of the matches let say 1,5-2.0 times for current points theyve already gained. People will not left matches early, ambitious but selfish players will have to work more collective.
For eg ; you totally gained 3000 xp in one match. If you are on winner side this number bumps up to 4500 or 6000.
Or another example
X team played good as collective and won. Their points are more dispersed and balanced like ;
1-4500
2-3000
3-2500

Y team has one good player but did not play as collective and lost
1-7000
2-2000
3-1000

Winner team at the end of the day have
9000
6000
5000
But loser team doesnt

Oh boy I do got news for you. Wanna guess what the first multiplier here is?

I’m 100% sure that the winning side already gets an xp boost. I’ve tested it and I get half as much xp when I lose so now I just quit when I’m on a team destined to lose.

Next time you win, move your mouse on the shields over that yellow big bar over there and be surprised.

I think I would rather a global Conquest mode. Where we have a live 'world map and pick the zones we get to fight in. The more territory we take, the more XP.
And if you have lost a lot of ground but manage to counter attack successfully, you get a big booster.

MwO has a cool system (not exactly like this, but with territory and planets to be won and lost) and I honestly would love a global campaign that does that with tech trees.

would rather have incentives for players to stick through a match that isn’t going well instead of motivating them to just hop into a match that is stacked in their favor to get farm EZ XP

How about a message: Grow A Spine when you leave? Or a debuff next to a name “Deserter” which would last an hour.

As others said, look better at post-battle results after a victory.

Besides:

…What?

If I’m gaining loads of XP in a match, why in the world would I quit mid-match and 1) miss out on more easy XP, 2) get the penalty XP negative multiplier (0,7) for deserting?

Most quitters leave in the early phases of matches. If someone quits near the end, that means either they’re petty stat padders or having legitimate IRL stuff.

Don’t spoil the surprise, damn it! Let the man find it out with the clues set for him.

either you misread what i said or it flew over your head. Negative punishments are generally a bad idea for gaming and often don’t have the intended effect. It is infinitely better to instead give an incentive such as bonus logi orders, or maybe even an rng chance to earn an xp booster to use in another match.

I would be much more accepting of playing out an obviously losing match if such a thing were introduced. Currently if the game is just starting and I can already see a 3v8 with the 8 being entirely marshals/generals im just immediately quitting out and getting a new game to find a match that is more balanced and thus more enjoyable to play.

“Grow a spine”, big, red, flashing text and similar buff like in WoW. Deserter, a disgrace for the motherland. And an email indicating that “you suck, regards community” if you desert thrice.

Getting pampered and head-patted in a FPS game is what brought us modern Call of Duties. No-one should be rewarded from performing poorly.

You’re right, I edited my post to be spoiler-free. Edit the quote!

got it. you would rather force people to play unenjoyable matches instead of playing the game for a bit of fun like you are meant to. Good to know you have your priorities straight in such basic fundamentals when it comes to game design

Exacly. Because this game is a second job for the players that you need to deal with shit matches just because. Let’s waste the time we have after a work day or what ever to play matches that are nothing than pure frustration and proceed to complain on foruns than actually waste time on matches that bring fun and joy to play.

Rather quit and move on than prove a point no one asked to begin with. I m not here to get cancer.

My fun, first. Always.
