At the moment I see no reason to use the Ithaca over the Winchester 1912, so I have a few suggestions to improve it:
•allow it to slam fire, this would be like how the nagant revolver will keep firing if the trigger is held down but I’d prefer if it wasn’t as jarring as the nagant
•give it a bayonet and heat shield :
•let us ghost load a 5th shell into the magazine
•reduce the reload time, it’s currently 5.4 seconds whilst the Winchester is only 3.5

It’s a bit amusing how the ‘historically incorrect’ version of some of the guns in-game felt so good to use. First the Gewehr Kurz with its burst fire mode and now the Ithaca which could previously hold 7 shells. Nevertheless, I hope they do something to help this weapon stand out.

There’s also the fact that there isn’t even an animation for pumping it between shots, at least not when testing out the squad in the practice range.
So make the Ithaca what the Winchester should’ve been from the get go? No. Fix the Winchester
give the winchester slamfire and a bayonet and a +1 reload
give the ithaca slamfire and a bayonet and a +1 reload
give the auto 5 a +1 reload
also add the 1897 and the remington model 10 and the stevens 520-30 and the remington model 31, all with the bayonet(except the 31, that didn’t have a bayo lug), slamfire, and +1 reload
also make the ithaca(and future remington model 31, they’re both 4 shot tubes) BR1

Were all of those capable of slam fire? The reason the Trench Sweeper was capable is because it was what? The 2nd pump action shotgun ever made? So trigger disconnects didn’t exist yet. Don’t know how long it took for them to be added though
Most shotguns before the 60s were capable of slamfire.

It was said that in real life this weapon could hold only 4 bullets. So it was corrected.

It would be nice to see the Winchester get slam fire but if it’s gave a bayonet then it’ll be too similar to the Ithaca
Except for the 2 extra rounds.
Ithaca and the Auto 5(and Remington Model 11 by association) had 4 shot magazines, though some of the prototype Auto 5/model 11 trench guns had an extended magazine tube, presumably 7 or 8 shot tubes.
The Winchester 1897, 1912, and the Remington model 10 had 6 round tubes, and the Remington model 31 and Stevens 520-30 had 5 round tubes.
The 1897, Ithaca, 1912, model 10, and 520-30 all had the “trench gun” setup with the heat shield and bayonet lug, though the model 10 had a unique wooden heat shield. There were other prototypes, including a model 10 with a Mosin bayonet.
And a bonus: the regular 520 trench gun prototype.
