Making small equipment a viable choice

Hey there!

I’d like to give you a very simple solution how to make small equipments viable, since at the moment it’s not worth it to use them.
Well, this might change for f2p players soon, when the update drops and large equipment is only obtainable through silver orders. But this will most likely leave a little p2w taste in their mouthes. To counteract this:

Make it so, that you can either equip 2 small equipments or 1 large.

This would lead to more interesting choices and there would be an actual reason to buy small ones over their bigger counterparts. Players could decide if they want to focus on one thing like full ammo or get a mix of two things.

For example:

An Axis trooper with an FG42 II. You definitely want some ammo on him because of the FG42, but for a trooper extra grenades are also nice. So you could use one small ammo pouch and one small grenade pouch. While a large ammo pouch would still be a viable option.
For other weapons that are not so ammo hungry you can go large grenade pouch or maybe mix a small grenade pouch with a small backpack for an extra medkit or toolbox.

Much more choices and removes the miserable feeling that you once bought some small equipments which are now rotting in your storage!

Have a nice day!

P.S.: I’m a bit baffled that this easy solution hasn’t been suggested yet. If it already has and i’ve just overlooked it, than i’m sorry for wasting your time!

Edit: Removed a piece of extra info, that was seemingly wrong. Sorry!

nope, the engie just needs a hammer to repair it

Are you certain about this? I’m pretty sure i once tried it without a toolbox and couldn’t repair it.

you have to have the hammer out

Same goes for restoring ammo to flack and at guns, and reattaching machine guns to player built mg nests.

What you can do with tools is repair friendly tanks. Just walk up and hold T on them.

It’s a sound solution, I’d be up for it. Even the possibility of equipping 2x small ammo pouches would work

More fun than the idea I had to make stamina drain faster for those having big ammo/backpacks/grenade pouchs but remain roughly not changed for those having small ones.

Quick technical complaint I think may be worth brining up, is that if doubling up on the same type of backpack is allowed, then double small grenade pouch is equivalent to a single large, and cheaper, because the large grenade is 2x small, instead of 3x like the others.

It’s already in game, kind of. More weight you have → more stamina drain. And big backpack means more gear → more weight etc.

Does it thought? I never saw any difference… If there is it must really be minimal
But the op idea is more fun, it allows for more customization.

I tried soldiers:

  • Kar + knife
  • MG + knife + pistol + mine + large packpack + 4 medkits

2nd one had about 2/3 of the sprint distance of the 1st one.

Nice! Wasn’t aware there was a difference… it’s true most of my guys are packed like mules already…
Definitely good to know

Its marginal difference tbh. Almost irrelevant. (at least imo.)

I think they could either adjust the pricing to fit this mechanic or just don’t allow doubling up at all.

Preventing doubling up seems like the better choice there, but yeah, I don’t think it would be a hard fix, just pointing out that there is some level of conflict
