Making caves/tunnels dark

So the cave section i am making looks like this:

But i want it to look like this:

Without changing time of day to night.

Question: What is a consistent way to make underground caves dark? How do i prevent light from “leaking in”? Specifically, i am looking for an asset that can block light.

I have tried to box the area in question with rendinst that are not hollow:

still super bright inside a closed tunnel:

People already complained Moscow huts are too dark they cannot see enemies there. Is this really a good change?

I would personally don’t mind it. But I think it could have bad outcome for older people and so.

try to use tone_map color grading node

it will allow you to make darker / lighter certain areas

Not bad, but it makes the outside dark too.

there’s also an outside?

perhaps try with one way objects?

like, bottom is invisible, top is solid?


( some of them do have shadows despite being " invisible " )
