Make zimmerit work

I think it would be interesting if zimmerit (see the picture) would cause TNT packs to not stick to vertical surfaces.

I don’t know how balanced it would be and tbh I don’t care as it would be cool to have this in game.

Doesnt battlefield have working zimmerit?

It does.
It’s funny when enemy tries to TNT you and realizes his mistake when it’s too late.

Zimmerit shouldn’t work like that. I doubt those TnTs are magnetic.

If we are picky, TNT shouldn’t stick to tanks in the first place.

Never underestimate the power of used soldiers socks.

That was an anti-magnetic coating. Not an anti-stick coating. We currently don’t have any magnetic tank mines in game.

It kind of was anti stick. It has very uneaven surface that would make sticking to it really hard.
Though I don’t know if zimmerit shape was designed to work vs sticky things or if it was a 2nd layer protection vs magnets. If anybody knows, please comment.

I promise it was specifically made for magnetic shape charges, but really anything magnetic. Saw a whole documentary about it. However, sticky bombs, or tnt with a sticky back would still stick to it.

Ok

It might have been designed to counter magnetic mines but imo it looks like it would also counter sticky things because of very uneaven surface.

Bro…the crevices aren’t that deep and ridges aren’t that thin. A piece of tape would definitely stick to it, and some kind of sticky puddy or tar would most definitely hold even better because it would squish and grab onto all the crevices and ridges.

I’m not sure. Feels like it would fall off simply due to vibrations.

Anyway, it ultimatelly doesn’t matter if it’s unrealistic. It’s just a gameplay mechanic and it’s supposed to be cool.

You’re right it would be a cool mechanic.

uneven surface doesnt mean less stickiness.

In this scenario I think it does. You have much smaller contact area (as tnt brick is flat) so the connection will be weaker.
Question is: is this decrease big enough to matter.

Also tape and paint is more of a micro scale while zimmerit is a macro scale. So I’m not sure if you can directly compare it as it’s a different case.

depends on adhesive solution they used. if it had any gel like properties, it could probably stick easily.

btw idk why are we even talking about tnt when it is made up weapon for game purposes. closest thing that tnt would represent was satchel charges.

Honestly, it depends on so many things you could make a masters degree about it.

ngl I kinda agree, I think TNT should have to be placed on the roof or engine deck, or some other at least partly flat surface.

Though I also think explosive packs shouldnt be one shotting tanks and instead should be blowing off tracks/etc and you need to get explosives on the weaker roof or engine deck armour to finish the job.

Ofc this wouldnt be for all tanks, only the heavier tanks and the stronger spots of armour on mediums should stop it.

I mean that could be fun mechanic for guerrillas instead, give them plastic explosives. Which do stick to the side of tanks, and ofc lower the amount in turn. Since the TNT bundles atm are just 2 sticks of what should be non adhesive explosives.
