BT-7 absolutely needs its speed back. It was nerfed some time ago for some reason. The real life BT could reach 50km/h OFFROAD easily while in game BT barely averages 30km/h not even that. Its top speed is around 33-35 km/h.
We need a bit of a buff to the speed to not only have it match its historical specializations but also to balance it out a bit.
Theres barely any reasons to use it over the T50 and since its a gold order the tank is rarely used.
It has complete paper armor which even a PZII can easily pen. Hell a BF109 can easily pen it and kill it with its cannon if used by a skilled pilot.
Now IRL this disadvantage in armor was compensated by speed. See the issue?
that doesnt make a bit of sense why reduce the speed then? it can get to the OBJ faster and could dodge incoming enemies quicker. Theres basically no reason to tone it down this much. Whats the point of the tank then? Its supposed to be a cavalary tank not an infantry tank
Tanks in the game are for support only, they must cooperate with infantry in general if a tank isolates itself it is likely to be destroyed instead if it remains covered by its allies it will probably survive the whole game, the need to guarantee this type of gameplay led developers to reduce vehicle performance
Truly depends on the map. I can find plenty of spots in the wide and open moscow maps. Of course there are a few that can actually have decent flanking routes. Here we go: Fortified district you can flank around all the trench lines and the forest by going a long way through the left as attacker, then youll come out by the 3rd objective. A succesfull Flank!. Vysokovo village. There are a lot more in this one so just boot up the map to check if youre interested. And Monastery allows for some good flanking for the first 3 obj. The rest is in the monastery. There is enough room to flank but most people dont care to do so or dont look for these spots. I for example booted up a custom game alone and studied the maps and the potential good flanking routes, defensive positions and i try to utilize them during a match.
Because we dont want this to be world of tanks while the Germans all have super slow traversing turrets? Why isnt the MG42 firing at 1200 rpm? Why does every German have FG42s? Its a game and things are done for balance (or lack there of)
Thats not really the vehicles fault. Infantry still most of the times dont protect tanks and just dont care. Apart from a few heroes who throw explosives back. Salute! Maybe adding the adition to ride on the tank would help. Like you could do a big flank with the BT7s speed and flank everybody and have a squad of infantry get out. Now that would be cool
during the Normandy CBT there were halftracks with which to do it (at least from the photos I have seen) so I think it is a restriction only for the open beta in the meantime that the development continues
1- the germans in moscow basiclly only had hand powered turrets apart from PZ4. 2- because people are already crying about how OP it is. (I actually made a post abou this earlier this year about how to give it its actual ROF lol) 3 - yea why can they? Why can russians have AVS36s? Its dumb and it should change
Thats interesting to hear - halftracks. Pretty excited for that. They should make the late game infantry squads spawn in them maybe? That would be a good reason to use them
Sadly, all tanks have max speed of around 30kmh in this game… the Brit armoured car in Tunisia is listed at 80kmh specs… but also won’t go faster than 30ish kmh in game (making it worthless)… Some argue it’s due to map size, even if it’s really not a good excuse.
Lots of dumb things for sure but there has to be a faction balance. If we were historical accurate most germans would have K98s while entire divisions of Russians would have PPSHs and every American would have an M1 Garand so who would want to play the Germans? Its a fine line and this game is bad at walking it
Yea was so confused when i got that british armored car. Its not even faster than the started tank and has barely any MG ammo in reserve and is made from paper and has less crew? why would i use that
Judging by how the puma bt7 chaffee etc performs regarding top speed, the hellcat will be an useless tank to have.
(it was present in early beta days on training part of the game)
Maps have plenty of space to have more than 30km top speed. All of them have a road or zone where more speed could be used.
Limiting the top speed just because “the maps are small” isn’t even a justifiable reason.
All sections of current invasion maps on all maps have enough routes where a vehicle speed could shine. There is plenty of space for faster vehicles on every map on every section of avaiable playzone.
Just because it could reach 50km h, doesn’t mean I ill ride it at 50km everytime.
I have the option to, if, the zone I m playing alow me to, but I can always cruise slower.
