Make semi-auto the default firing mode of tech tree select fire rifles

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but I think the addition of type hei and t20 rifles into the tech tree is eroding the difference between assaulters / gunners and other classes at BR 5, as well as making the weapon choices sometimes too obvious - I wouldn’t know why use any other gun at BR5 japan or why use assaulters at all. Every soldier is now instant full auto machine.

Worse yet, this is not consistent at all. FG 42 and AVS (?) are default semi while being full auto capable, while t20, Hei, M2 carbine and AVT are default full auto. Which makes no sense to me really.

So I would propose the following:

All tech tree rifleman weapons should be default semi-auto, where the player needs to actively make them full auto.

M2 should probably become an assaulter weapon and stay full auto default due to the intermediary cartridge.

This would be a very gentle nerf to the select fire guns, while differentiating gunners/assaulters a bit more from everyone else and reducing the volume of fire overall in high BR games as bots would generally use them in semi-auto mode. And it would make the handling of the unlimited availability guns standard.

Oh and the FG 42 and AVT didn’t? Get out of here. If you cared that much this would’ve been a suggestion when Moscow came out. You only care cause now the Allies got something the Axis have had for forever

M2 isn’t an assault rifle. It’s a full auto modification of a carbine, a short rifle

FG 42 is not full auto default and neither was in moscow you absolute goblin.

FG never was at moscow.

Nor is smg but its still assaulter weapon.

AVT is

Pretty sure avt was stalingrad and berlin only. Moscow had federev.

Moscow had the AKT-premium squad with 10rd mag x 3.

BRV battlerifles have best jack of all trades stats so why not tone it it down little bit and not give the bots full auto as default.

From my pov the main point of the light nerf is to create a minor inconvenience to the player and not allow a fully seamless instant cycling of pseudo-assaulters/gunners, so that wouldnt do sadly.

Fully automatic mode should always remain for battlerifles, but I don’t agree with how many you can give them for each solider and how full auto mode turns every AI rifle solider to MG gunners…
”Only when the gun is in real players hands should it be able shoot full auto”.

Sure make them suffer and also add more recoil to match FG42/II aka the worst rifles in the game

I wouldn’t the worst, but full auto recoil is little bit annoying. It also comes down to power creep when it comes to FG42. Of course devs want release even better guns for high BR with the up coming updates.

Get out yoursefle you just fear your t20 getting nerfed and not on ballance out

It doesn’t need a nerf. It’s perfectly fine as is. Full auto burns through all the ammo. Better to set it to semi for more accurate shots and then full auto for spray and pray when wanted

Fedorov and MKB were at moscow if I remember correctly oh and the AVS 36 I think

I don’t agree with this proposal. But it’s also an option. The developers themselves said that the firing mode is a way of balance.

Does it really matter what the default setting is in the tech tree? If the T20 is defaulted to semi auto, I will just change it to fully auto once I get it. The only inconvenience is that I have to go to the practice range and change it before I use it in battle. BIG DEAL . It does not change anything on the battlefield. . And changing the M2 carbine to being full time semi auto? I ask you this, what was the real WW2 M2? If it was a full auto/semi auto in REAL LIFE, it should remain a full time/semi auto in the game. I mean, if we are going to go to fantasy land changing weapons we do or do not like, then change my level 3 M1 Garand to FULL TIME AUTO. Just to spoof an EA sports quote, if its in the war, its in the game.

Maybe it was when the Fg 42 was the only select fire rifle but now we got AS, typ hei and t20 balance should be now to set al on semi or auto not just the last 3 mentioned

Sometimes I wonder if people read anything here. :pensive:

It slows down your full auto cycling in combat by maybe 1-2s which can make a difference or you need to cycle through the squad and change the setting. Both cost time, which is not a big deal but it is something.

Most people will not do the 2nd so there will be reduced bot firing volume. But if you don’t think it makes a big difference, thats good i guess - no reason not to do it. :grinning:

Yes, but I would never have a problem with the semi auto default setting because I try ALL my new weapons out in the practice range before I use them in combat. So, if it is set to semi auto, I change it there, and would do so with all my weapons, so other then being a minor inconvenience it is not a problem with me. I really could care less what any of the guns default settings are since i am going to check it first anyway.
