Make Player Tail Gunners as Scary as the Bomber Call Ins

I just have had a rough line of matches, trying to get better with Attacker craft. I do not understand how the Gunners of the bombers Call in’s have become so dangerous ill actually second guess intercepting them, but the ai on players attacker aircraft still are brain dead. I watched in a match having an Italian fighter miss and miss and miss, just hearing my tail gunner expend all 2000 .50 munitions and not a single lick of damage. I got so aggravated i looked back and watched as each tracer was spraying to the left of the target when it is egressing towards the right. its as if i shoot west for a moving target heading east.

As much as I agree that plane gunners are useless, they must remain useless.

Aircraft fights are all about who gets the jump on the other and therefore can end up behind them - where the other plane can’t shoot you.

If we make ATTACKER planes, out of all planes, able to fend off planes behind them, we’ll end up with planes that destroy ground targets with their payload and also destroy airplanes that try to stop them from doing just that.

Attackers are already more popular than fighters due to generally better payload DESPITE being a free kill to other planes in most situations. They don’t need to be even stronger. If anything, we should buff planes that carry no payload at all since those can only fulfill the role of intercepting other planes.

Fair point, however i disagree.

On average bomber planes arent hard to take out, nor their machine gunners do as much damage, they’re usually powerless if you strike them from a certain angle. And if they do hit you, they usually wont damage critical components of plane.

Op’s suggestion makes sense, if there are spots for gunners then make them more aggressive, but also more succeptible to the G forces.
Attacker planes wouldn’t be too OP to destroy, you just have to approach 'em from the right angle and shoot from the proper range. Usually back gunners are equipped with light machine guns anyways.

I am mostly using planes, fighter planes that is. So this comes at no bias, but from objective standpoint.
My suggestion the the op’s suggestion is to make plane gunners more aggressive, but also have them stop shooting once the G forces impact their flight stamina. It’ll give an opprotunity window for an enemy plane

I agree with op and rokkafella. From what I read some planes have completely useless gunners.
Fighter planes still would be able to outgun attackers, with some exceptions.
Imo, ideally it should be up to the player to aim the gunner, but AI should be competent to a minimum degree.
On a side note, perks for gunners would be cool.

Some aircraft does have scary defensive weapons, like Me410 has remote controlled heavy MG or JU-188 which has 20mm if not mistaken, but most are stuck with some MG.

Whilst i understand thats how dogfights are your comparing two different playstyles adn trying to cram one within the other. I am a fighter main saying how useless these are. And often times at all tiers it should be hard to get a free kill on these guys. But with that said, attacker craft have less armour, worse turn times and elevation times. You should be winning most of the time if you play your fighter correctly. Im not saying it needs to be laser beam but if your 50-100 meters from your target you should be 100% lit up. You have speed on the side that needs it. The only plane that would be stupid strong would be the bf110 cause frankly its classified incorrectly. It is not an attacker it is a Fighter escort and it dogfights like a monster.

But say take the dauntless, The whole concept of the tail gunner was paramount to how they operated. It was slow, it was not manevaruable and was hard to pitch with its heavy ordance. the tial gunner although not perfect allowed it to fly without getting shot down as frequently.

Lastly its an arsenal in your equipment. If the 20mm cannons on the 109 stopped working you would rightfully ask for a fix.

They have insane Range already its the accuracy. Also you can get more rang with perks like peripheral range.
