for binoculars to be effective the render distance would need to be increased

For spotting targets you can just spam the V key around the map while you are flying in (If you are on PC, and still have marking bound to V). You will end up marking tanks and APC’s that are on the ground.

You let go of controls and try to get stable enough view through binoculars and be able to see fck all throught the cockpit glass?
In a 2-3 seater as gunner/spotter with open canopy flying low and slow sure maybe can/was useful.
Target spotting should be redone in Enlisted. proximity should show them up, Infantry and vehicles when in close proximity and field of vision, soun. appear on Map good to go. And then the guys who like to go around scouting can help out team with long range spotting enemies and vehicles hidden from normal ‘‘proximity’’ detection.
The Game would be healthier with it. mI’m talking 50-100 m for enemy Infantry and maybe 150-200 m for vehicles. for longer distance you should still have to spot them by marking
