Make Intermediates deal 9.0+ damage (base)

Guns such as the M1 Carbine and VG 1-5 are unnecessarily underpowered. Both fire intermediate cartridges, which are rifle rounds. Like for instance, the .30 carbine led way for the popular 5.56 NATO.

So in no instance whatsoever should they do barely more damage than the grease gun, which shoots an oversized pistol round (.45 ACP).

The next lowest damage semi auto is the armaguerra, which has 11.3 damage, vs the 7.2 of the carbine.

In what world is this acceptable?

My proposal is that we split the middle in terms of damage. So now the M1 Carbine / VG 1-5 will have 9.3 damage base . This I feel shouldn’t disrupt game balance too much, and brings back relevance to intermediate cartridge rifles.

Generally I agree but isn’t 9.3-11.2 damage a bit excessive? That’s one hit down for soldiers without viatlity.

Doesn’t necessarily have to be that high. But definitely nothing lower than 8.8. even at 8.8 the M1 carbine still struggles to at least down someone at close range using chest shots (for a non full auto rifle/ weapon, not even downing someone on the first shot is ludicrous).

(M1 carbine also needs a ROF upgrade, as it is the only gun to not have one in the entire game).

Plus 11.2 still puts it behind the other rifles, even at base level, so I still think it’s balanced.

Reasonable with current balance.
Both Type Otsu and 1912 Fedorov outmatch M1 C in both CQC and medium range. (M1 C is useless in long range so its not even comparable to rifles).
If M1907 Winchester can have 12.6 so can other rifles.

This…It is completely useless at long range. I dislike the M1 Carbine so much I use the BP S&W semi auto instead. I would use the M1C if it were buffed a little.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

M1 Carbine is a great weapon for BR2.

It takes 2 shots, even against body armour (which only happens in custom games), to down someone until 68 meters.

The M1 Carbine is a fantastic weapon, and is incredibly well balanced for its tier, unlike the recent Federov Rifle 1912 and Lui Rifle additions, which are blatant powercreep. Semi Autos should not easily one shot soldiers in BR2, this completely removes Bolt-Actions from the tier.

I dont really have an opinion about the fire-rate. The weapon kills in 0.205 seconds @ 320 ROF
350 rof would be 0.189s
420 rof (to match the Otsu Rifle) would be 0.161s

Is it really necessary for a gun with a 15 round magazine in BR2 (which allows every soldier class to play aggressive, a rarity in BR2 since most soldiers are stuck with bolt actions) to have a rate of fire that lets it wipe entire squads easily?

Technically, the M2 Carbine has a ROF of 750, and the M1 Carbine could probably produce similar, yet the “Realistic” Rate of Fire (for aimed shots) is 60 - 70 depending on training.
I assume that most peoples complaint is that they often cannot reach the advertised 320 ROF because of the timing being tricky at this speed, leading to inputs too early, and essentially missing the beat. Perhaps Gaijin could alleviate this problem by allowing buffered inputs (either outright, or within a time window) so that semi-auto weapons feel more consistent in their fire rates.
