Make HE shells do more or the ability to damage tanks barrels

many times when im driving a lower tier tank and I have HE loaded and spot a enemy tank i end up shooting the enemy tank with he and causing no damage to external components it would be nice to be able to cause more harm to tanks when HE is loaded giving lower br tanks a chance to run or push a stronger tank

if you want that to work you’re gonna have to start asking for them to add vision ports which you can damage.

being able to blind them would also be nice like how flamethrower tanks makes your screen turn red if you pop out the hatch for a half of a second while your tank is on fire

If we’re doing that we may as well start adding paint or mud that we can throw into the vision ports as well.

lol if infantry can throw dirt/mud it would be legendary the tanker would need to get out and clean the sights but thats a bit over the top. All im requesting for is more damageable components with HE shells

It’s not a matter about legendary it’s a matter of just blinding the tank so instead of just using AP you can use HE to start damaging the viewports or blinding the tank and making him have to fix it or start driving around blind.

how is HE shells damaging tank components a skill issue? hearing a tank while in a tank? you’ll need to be really close to each other for that to happen and if im driving up to a point why would I have anything other than HE loaded

you having HE loaded while there is a tank on the battlefield and then complaining about not being able to damage the tank with anti infantry round is a skill issue

how would you know theres a tank coming when youre pushing a point? how would you know to load anything other than HE if your team hasn’t spotted a tank yet? if im driving up to a point ill have HE to destroy infantry if I turn a corner and see a tank coming towards me how would I switch the HE shell without shooting it? youre just being rude about wanting a new/better mechanic for the game talking about skill issue clearly if anyone knew a tank is there they would have the anti tank shell loaded

Before spawning the tank i would take into factors that i noticed on the ground, tank cannon or cmndr mg in killfeed, marks etc and then crest the usual hill and look into their tank spawn… then shell objective as i see fit

In this situation you would already be in a tank pushing an objective so the enemy team would be the one bringing in the tank to destroy your tank and like I said before if I know theres a enemy tank in the area or killing my team I would load anti tank shells and engage them. Still being rude with logical trash saying it’s a pamper because of lack of awareness.

with these quotes you would assume that im already on the battle field engaging the enemy in close quarter so please explain how I would know if theres a tank coming if im already on or near the point especially when the enemy can spot you as well

all you could have said was it would be unfair since people would abuse it by camping in the grey zone spamming HE towards other tanks disabling them but no instead you keep saying its a skill issue because people in tanks just mindlessly drive around doing what ever from your way of thinking

You want it bluntly? I think you have a lack of awareness in a tank and would rather be focused on killing infantry and are asking for a mechanic to be added to pamper that. Straight up.

I have a bud that routinely says ”spawning in a tank and keeping AP loaded” and you wanna know why? Because he is dealing with the tank threat before going for infantry instead of switching to HE the second you spawn in.

Back to the original topic, maybe adding some type of concussion when hit by 50mm+ HE?

Hell i thought high caliber atleast blows the tracks off but maybe that’s enough… the barrel i mean sure i understand but once again just goes back to what i said above.

I only spawn in tanks when they could be effective to the battle example hills on bulge or chateu mansion type building so i’m not the best to talk about this stuff but it’s a simple concept really, deal with the tank threat and then use HE.

You get caught with your pants down? You having HE loaded is your punishment for not being aware of a possible tanker… i mean if we’re going to go the the point of hitting accurately with HE you should already have the basic fundamentals locked down

thats great but what does he do when it comes to pushing a objective and the enemy doesn’t have a active tank until after you already made your presence known by pushing towards the objective?

getting outplayed/or died simply by chance doesn’t change the fact that they already knew where you were since being on or near a point makes you a target especially after you kill a squad and they respawn into a tank or plane

Large-caliber HE shells can already destroy the barrels of weaker tanks. For larger tanks, the crew is much more susceptible to HE than the barrel, and large-caliber shots could realistically incapacitate them even without major damage to the vehicle. Even a 122mm HE shell is unreliable against mid to late-war medium tanks. If you wanted to argue realism, then a 152mm HE shell to the barrel from the sides would either blow the barrel right off or spin the turret around, and a shot to the cheek from the side would disconnect the turret from the hull of any tank implemented in the game so far.
Gameplay-wise, I think that HE shells are already good enough as they are (against tanks). The only change that they need is to have real explosion physics and not be some straight raycasts from the center of the blast.
