Bots are useless as battlefield units and once someone asking for boosting their shooting perfomance - we facing crying babies those would say that they don’t want to be killed by bots from far away…
And this is kinda dilemma: how to boost general bots perfomance without boosting shooting performance?
Also it reminds me that we have some problems with rally/entire engineering part of gameplay - there are lack of engineers in games(approximately 20-30% of every team)
So why not to kill two rabbits with one stone by making bots able to build rally points near capture point(s), plus, instead of using tanks, make them use APCs.
So bots will become rather good support units instead of bad firearm units.
Of course there might be some additional improvements like:
- Building other engineering buildings, e.g. sandbags, etc.
- Give bots ability to mark nearbly enemies (meanwhile 90% players also not marking…)
- Mining roads and buildings
but I guess it will be way to hard both to program bots to make their usage correctly and to balance usage of it.

I feel ya. There was an specific update in which I was impressed with the state of the bots and I thought they were finally moving forward, and I was glad. It was like a year ago, and I remember being shot while in a tank by a bot who was carrying a bazooka. This was around the same update they implemented AI shooting mortars. And I haven’t seen it ever since.
So yes, I agree there’s a fine line between getting good AI and pleasing those who complain about getting shot behind bushes or other things that stop run and gun players. Can’t please everyone it seems.
Lately, I like the introduction of AI driving tanks, despite the awkward backwards shooting they do, I find that AI tanks can be quite aggressive, which is cool. At times they’re even better than an actual teammate, as I’ve seen them destroy other players with ease. It’d be better if they could use the tank’s MGs too, instead of being limited to use the main gun only.
I like your suggestions. I also think bots should spawn from APCs and not just limited to engineer built rallies. I also thought before how they should be programmed to build more structures around the map, and not just the typical ammo box and med crate. But AT guns, fixed MGs, sandbags as you say, etc. It would be complex perhaps, but with this element of randomness on the battlefield the map would feel different each time.

it’s ironic how an Indie Game who is not the best have better AI than here, and yes, I say about Easy Red, it’s not perfect, lacks of many things, but the AI works better than here so far, they should be ashamed

I would say…
Make the bots stronger and more agressive to an enemy dependant on range. This will help with not getting bot sniped across the map but at the same time you wont be able to just easy clap lawn mow the bots at close range.
the only thing bots need in regards to fixing is when they get shot at and literally die the other bots should be able to shoot back instead of thinking about it. if they’re all in a room and 1 person comes in shooting they should be able to shoot back and if they’re getting shot from a distance they should be able to move around and get to cover after seeing one of their men die if they can’t shoot at the distance the enemy is at

The AI needs to be able to actually take and use cover properly. And when they are shot at they should be able to return suppressing fire in the direction they are being shot from. (They don’t have to be terminators that can squad wipe someone for shooting in their direction, just decent enough to make the enemy player think about his next move carefully)
Right now you pretty much get horrible bots that allow themselves to be mag dumped in mass, and occasionally you get the one bot that will 180 aim lock on someone and blast them away.

I guess we will never see good AI in enlisted.
AI lacks so many things:
-
path finding is still a huge problem → instead o moving through a window, AI is still moving far around deep into the enemies and try to enter through a door
-
AI ignoring orders - tell them to stay in the trench / building - AI move out on their own and get killed.
-
AI doesn’t keep up with the player if he decides to spint - AI should also start to sprint when player does
-
AI still see players through multiple and deepest bushes because they doesn’t exist for them
-
AI once again move into own build rallys / ammo boxes and getting stuck there even if you tell them before to get to another place
-
AI still keep running infront of a player while the player is shooting. If you move to the left / to the right the AI doing the same and continue to block + the AI is yelling to “stop shooting the own team”
-
AI very often has the reaction of a train when an enemy player enters the room because all looking into the same direction instead of covering the room from all sides
-
If an enemy player throw a grenade on the ground of the 1st floor the own bots in the 3rd floor begin to panic and start running down into the 1st floor to the grenade (getting killed either by the grenade or enemies guns)
Darkflow should remove the AI on the test server complete and start a clean new try to develop them
