Make Bomber Strike Great Again

Political jokes aside, dear devs, the nerf was necessary, but it’s too much, actually it’s better keep spamming basic one than use any other, bombers are screwd, rockets too long too, smoke it’s pretty useless because it share timer with the rockets,bombers and basic one, it shouldn’t share timer with any strike or if they need with one, make it do with the ammo drop box, if anyone know a way to make it better, I am open to listen

Personally, I’d do away with heavy bomber runs all together. After all, the average platoon’s radioman didn’t call in heavy bombers in the middle of a battle, they called in close air support from fighter bombers. Heavy bombers were used to soften up enemy positions before a battle commenced and were called in by operational commanders as part of the overall strategy, not platoons in a limited tactical role.

But if we do need to keep bombing runs in, then maybe change them to fighter bombers so they fly faster, but make them have 2 less planes in the attack, and focus the area of effect to reflect the change, so not to carpet bomb an area, but have a more direct effect, but looser than normal arty.

The way they work now just ties up artillery support for way too long, for usually little return.

That can be an interesting concept mixed with BR:

Scout Call: A plane or several reconnaissance planes fly over the battlefield, marking different enemy positions, tanks, even their infantry with a small box describing the squadron to which they belong

Fighter/Dive Bomber: A light and fast aerial attack with greater power and dispersion but less damage based on your message

Heavy Bomber Call: A powerful and devastating attack that brings destruction to the battlefield, the bombers are slow but they bring escorts that protect them from enemy fighters

Buffing airstrikes as a whole is a terrible idea given how much it inequally affects the opposing team.

They were frankly introduced at a time when people were questioning the usefulness of the fighter class in a game where the very purpose of spawning a vehicle in was to support infantry- Fighters being a largely reactionary response did not make them particularly useful to intercepting suicidal CAS planes, and pre-emptively flying fighter planes makes you a liability to your own team given their limited CAS loadouts.

Then airstrikes were added, and suddenly, fighter pilots had things to shoot down to level up their squads.

If airstrikes get buffed such that it would essentially force the opposing team to commit to countering them, then I am vehemently against the idea given that the effort necessary to call in the strike is not commensurate with the effort needed by the opposing team to reduce the potential damage caused.

Instead of airstrikes getting buffed, I’d rather change radioman plane call-in abilities.

just make it so other players can still call artillery while a bombing run is active and call it a day tbh

You sure? You need a radioman 2 at least, I think.

double the number of bombers, halve the points recieved for each bomber destroyed. 2 formations at different altitudes

Well, unless DF lets bombs penetrate a roof, they have made dive bombers useless against anyone who is not standing outside. Make bomb damage more realistic and we wouldn’t have to have more bombers, especially since again, they can only kill people standing outside. I could be mistaken, but I think artillery can penetrate a roof, but not a bomb.

I deleted a lot of squads after merge I didn’t think I needed. I guess that makes sense I need to get it on both radiomen 2 squads

Bombs, Flamers, molotovs, Bullet Penetration (specifically heavy mgs), friendly fire, artillery, mines, G launchers, mortars. All “toned down” or " neutered

i say we change the 6 bombers to a fast and low flying sortie of 3 jabos each carrying 1x of 500kg bombs instead

The biggest problem I see is they go to far, from one extreme to the other. Artillery is the biggest irritant for me in the game, as some games it is constant non stop never ending. I play some games that I might lost 12 squads, and 6 of them were all vaporized by artillery. I lose far more soldiers from Artillery then I ever did by AP mines, plane bombes or even grey zone camping tanks, yet, from what I see they don’t neuter Artillery like they did with AP mines and plane bombs. You know, you can change the way you play to cut down on AP mine deaths, which I did, but you can’t change your way to counter artillery strikes. I am fine if they want to leave artillery the way it is because quite frankly, artillery is going to kill a lot of people, however, plane bombs are going to kill a lot of people as well, whether they are standing inside or out. :wink:

I definitely dont agree that bomber strikes get buffed again, all that leads to is the spam we had before where one team simply presses a button and the other team has to scramble to not get erased.

Instead of buffing them we would need some form of replacement.

I remember a fun short time in which the artillery came very often and also caused heavy concussion.
During most of the battle a soldier could not see well enough to shoot or even walk straight because of heavy brain damage by the constantly pounding artillery, it was so unplayable that it was removed quick :laughing:
