I’m not going to use the terms buff or nerf because those words are way overused and are really very subjective. I just want the bomber class to be a viable class. Right now bombers are just bullet stoppers and serve no other purpose because everyone carries around multiple demo packs which are far more effective at taking out tanks.
You can check this out for yourself. Go to the practice range with your bomber squad and load them down with demo packs. Try shooting your favorite bomber AT weapon at the tanks and then do the same with throwing the demo packs. You will find that the demo packs are far more effective than the bombers AT weapon.
Bomber class is just irrelevant right now and needs to be made to fill a necessary roll.
My solution would be to make the bomber class available earlier in the campaign maybe like at level 2 or 3. And make the demo packs less effective at killing a tank. If thrown or placed properly a demo pack should immobilize a tank and maybe even take out a crew member but not totally destroy the tank …
This ^ I can easily use my bombers to take out distant tanks, especially as an Allied taking out those pesky Axis tanks positioned up on the hills at Normandy, but cannot throw detpacks that far
Some time ago, the proposal was to replace TNT with proper anti-tank grenades. Maybe that will happen with time.
The other solution is to move them into “Mine” slot and change their throwable range. Basically you would use AT grenades to damage or just immobilste tank and TNT would finish it off.
I don’t like playing Sniper… That’s my problem then.
I like midrange for the most part and the German one on Moscow just doesn’t fit my playstyle at all. I’d rather use another class with Explosive packs.
Bombers are okay. They are not usually instant kills, but besides occasional vehicle damage model bugs, they do the job. They fire HEAT or solid shot so you have to aim for crew or ammo to do big damage.
Det packs are more powerful but more dangerous to use.
There’s is no reason to take alot of squads (bomber, sniper, rifleman) but if you put those classes as specialists into other squads that’s a different story.
I myself have engineer squad filled with bombers, better than having just rifleman and they can kill tanks just fine at range if you know where to shoot.
The only thing I’d like is for anti tank rifle accuracy to be looked at. It’s deadly accurate when shooting at infantry, but tanks it doesn’t hit where it’s pointing alot (and that’s from bipod)
I sat behind a jumbo firing my sturm pistole into the rear and sides of it. went through my entire stock of ammo, threw a detpack on it’s engine deck. Still didn’t kill it. bombers are a joke and this game is turning into what I would imagine War Thunder would be like if they added on a half baked infantry mode.
Bombers need some love and tweaking. So far, they are only viable in early game, at least on Normandy. Late game, they are pretty useless. I don’t have them on any squads I use and convert all of them in academy into something else.
^ Edit: I meant “and would like to convert all of them in academy into something.” which isn’t possible since they always get on top and become the target of conversion, which sux.
I used them early game, so I have like 8 leveled Bombers of 2-4 level. And I wish I could convert them in Academy into something else, I mistyped it in first post. So far, they are on top of class list, so you can convert any other class into a bomber, which isn’t ideal at all. Ideally, you want to be able to arrange the class list as you see fit. I’d then put Troopers top and Bombers bottom. Academy uses the list order to arrange soldiers you send in and always returns the top one of the three, at least if classes differ that is how it works already.
Imagine going to practice, fighting a tank that doesnt move, doesnt shoot back and doesnt have infatry covering it and thinking “Yeah, point black demo pack throwing is definetily more effective”
Bruh, the tanks at practice doesnt even have crew - its literally impossible to compare AT weapons effectivness.
I probably would carry my old Mortar team if they were limited more. The whole Shell the whole match with an engineer just makes it way to boring to play.
In Practice in you can practice to 1-2 shot every tank, aim at ammo or fuel tank. Would be nice to have crew too but that is not really necessary. You can learn how to kill crew in battle directly, on tanks that are difficult to get to from a weak point.
