To be fair, players are a bit different than bots, and it’s data coming from 20 computers and not 100.
Plus, ‘server hamster’ is a meme for a reason and even now, Customs have problem with lag due to Squads’ prioritization.
It used to when the map editor was glitched and we could modify lone fighter maps to accept 100 players in the custom matches. The devs’ servers were getting cooked so they fixed the exploit. They need to allow custom matches on community dedicated servers imo.
Maps that lasted more than an hour or two would resemble what Foxhole looks like when a front stays static for a week. Trench lines everywhere and no mans lands were scorched and treeless.
