Main armament suggestion for Sherman IC Firefly - Invasion of Normandy

Can we get APCBC rounds on the firefly since it historically had a 76.2mm gun with APCBC shells but in-game it uses AP rounds. I feel like the M4A1 (76) W’s main canon outperforms the firefly’s canon and the firefly is a premium squad. Here is a description from “The Online Tank Museum”:

“The 17 pounder was a 76.2 mm (3 in) gun with a length of 55 calibres. It had a 2,900 ft/s (880 m/s) muzzle velocity with HE and HEAT rounds and 3,950 ft/s (1,200 m/s) with APDS or Armor Piercing Capped, and Ballistic Capped.”

Give the US 75mm the M61 APCBC shot as well.

Just fix the AP rounds, they are better than the APCBC

It’s not only about pen, it’s about post pen as well. The M61 shot has explosive filler meaning it will be more forgiving in terms of shot placement. Furthermore, War Thunder has the M61 and M75 shells pen effectivelt swapped with the M61 penning just over 100mm at 100m, and the M75 penning around 95mm at 100m. I don’t have access to my computer currently so I cannot pull up my sources, however seeing as this game steals most things involving vehicles from War Thunder, it would be safe to assume that M61 will work as it does in WT.

Thats the issue, it shouldnt up and steal stuff from War Thunder, especially when its wrong

The devs don’t have the ability to remodel everything, so it is understandable if they reuse company assets. Furthermore, it is known that M75 is a training shell, and thus often inferior to M61 in most ways. Several sources also include penetration as something M61 is better at, although accurate numbers are unreliable as penetration stats can be skewed in a variety of ways.

Oh no m72 was a service round, just that it was pulled out for m61 starting in 43 for being lackluster as an AT round also many m61 were rushed out without the filler

The M61 did have ballistic cap meaning it did lose less penetration over distance, the germans tanks like panzer IV’s were made from Face Hardenned Armour which the APC type rounds were better against

For Example the Panzer IV H features 80mm thick FHA armour.

M72 AP penetrates 112mm @ 0m of RHA but only 75mm @ 0m of FHA.
M82 APCBC penetrates 91mm @ 0m of RHA but 102mm @ 0m of FHA

Face Hardenned Armour isnt modelled in enlisted or WT

Just giving all Shermans their APHE or APCBC would be optimal.
Shermans without their APCBC kinda suck.

Firefly’s caliber rounds could pen panther’s UFP at close distances i must say. in game sadly fly can’t do that, but has crap accuracy which it had only using APDS (because of shell’s construction). in general i agree it must have some accuracy and piecring buff, but main problem is HE shell which has random damage in all champaigns now. Fly, anyway, is able to calmly punch literally any German except bugged Panther and Jagdpanther

too much explosive APs. must make Solids great again >:[

it’s because of stupid physics of shells. if you ask only replacement of one bug to another, someday your favorite one could break too. of course tanks should have actual ammo but fixing older once is necessary. for example as i said, solid shells were slightly better in piercing so QF 17 can pen panther at close combat. it should be noticed

Thats true

Panther Upper Plate was 80mm thick and sloped at 55 degrees.
Fixed 17 Pounder AP penetrates 96mm @ 0m at 55 degrees, 80mm @ 0m at 60 degrees.

This means that 17 Pounder AP should penetreate
Panthers Upper Hull of 80mm at 55 degrees upper plate up to 400 meters

actually gajeen, who gave italian firefly SHOT SV1, nerfed solids so badly that APDS can’t take Panther at 600m and make ridiculously low damage. their trend to overbuff explosives is pathetic

This is why Enlisted needs seperate mechanics from that failure of a game called WT

eheh, would be glad to agree but enlisted still lacks tank gameplay even in comparison to wt. because last is tank shooter and it adapts mechanics for tank shooter. enlisted is combined arms game but tanks here usually act separately from infantry because of numerous issues and flaws

I literally downloaded it yesterday to grind axis aviation LOL…I was trying to read some tutorials, tips or guides for beginners on YT and man does it have a loooot of stuff…will definitely take a some time to get used to the game.

better grind american aviation, rest often sucks amazingly. starting with speeds and finishing with cannon damage or missiles. i laughed how soviet R-60 lose targets with no reason or do endless “hits” but still called a bias

I feel like after a certain update the firefly was maybe nerfed I don’t know because it was working fine against Tigers and Panzer Mark IVs and I recently shot a direct hit at a Tiger’s side armor and only two ppl died…usually it gets ammo racked in one shot…

When it comes to the Panther, one shot to the MG opening in the sloped armor takes the Panther out but at a closer distance that is if the shot is able to be lined up properly. The second place to pen would be the horizontal turret drive area which usually takes out at least 3 crew members. As I mentioned in the first post, the firefly’s cannon has sort of fallen off idk maybe it is just me but then again the (76) W seems to do fine when put in the same position.
