M2A1 carbine and fold stock

I purchased an M2A1 a long time ago and thought it was terrible so I leave it in storage gathering dust.
Now got two more as an event reward, still say it’s pretty bad, worse now we have the hyde44, the hyde feels like 0 recoil compared to the M2A1.

Weapon Name 10m Rate of Fire Vertical Horizontal Recoil Control Vertical Horizontal
M2A1 Carbine 8.8 860 45 18 0.45 20 8
Thompson .30 Cal SMG 8.8 980 48 11 0.3 14 3
Hyde M1944 9.4 800 38 8 0.3 11 3
M2 Carbine 8.8 750 46 14 0.3 14 4

The problem is the high rof and excessive horizontal recoil.
In this game horizontal recoil affect both horizontal and vertical in random ways, that’s why weapon with large horizontal recoil are much more incontrollable.

I wonder the fold stock that reduce 200g of weight really affect that much?
While MP 41 remain almost the same to MP 40, which is it’s fold stock version.

Weapon Name Vertical Horizontal Recoil Control Vertical Horizontal
MP 41 20 6 0.4 8 2
MP 40 27 9 0.3 8 3

The M2 with the foldable stock I can only use in controlled bursts, so I don’t use it.

Yes, it is slightly worse than its TT counterpart.

But as I see it, it’s primarily designed for vehicle crews.
(It’s definitely not worthwhile for assaulters, you could just use a classic tech tree variant in combination with a rifleman squad to get a much better effect.) which makes it unique in at least some ways.

It’s not a MkB 42 w/StG 44 case. In which one weapon is purely just inferior with no added value.

If you know how “Recoil Control” works in this game, you would know the game just encourage people to use full auto.
“Recoil Control” gradually reduces recoil when you’re keep firing.

For the most part I only use a couple Hyde’s just to field them and the rest are Thompson 50’s. The only M2 Carbines I employ are as Radioman T20 backups, and I have one engineer squad fully equipped with M2’s, but rarely use the squad since I have 12 other level 5 squads.

it’s kinda one of those weapons that it’s mildly more effective if used by bots than players.
at least, that’s how i view it.

as it goes for when actually using it, i personally use it like a thompson.
pure hip fire.

i have yet to apply the perks to tone it down, but ultimately, i think i’ll still leave it to my close quarter APC squad, and use it in hip fire:

( yes, i did stated i wasn’t a huge fan of m2 carbines. but it looks so good on my paras that i decided to give it to them. probably the only “other” squad to whom i gave an m2. )

but, i understand how one might be disappointed by it’s performance.

M2A1 is classified as a SMG so you can equip it on tank crew/pilot/guerilla/APC driver.
Its a decent alternative to the m1928A1 50 round Thompson, its obviously not as good as the Hyde1944 but its still useful.

I use it on my current BR5 layout, and it seems pretty decent even though the recoil isn’t great ( it’s managable with 40% recoil reduction),but then again I haven’t gotten to the hyde or M2 yet so I might be glazing shit.Probably doing to get banished to storage after i do end up getting the M2 though…

I invest in max vertical recoil control perks, I almost never feel any upwards kick on my guns. Trust me, that perk is a lifesaver in so many ways and you’re lost if you don’t got it.

Remember folks, the Hyde magically deals more damage than all the other .30 guns despite having the 2nd shortest barrel. Honestly nerfing its DMG to 8.8 would make the M2A1 more viable just by itself.
